Gardening with Ammo

With the warm weather beginning to pop in around my area the plants are starting to grow. It also means that it’s time for me to start my garden!

Left to fend for itself over the winter, my garden was looking a bit sad.

Luckily I’m not afraid of some hard work, so I got to work with mom and dad digging out the weeds and preparing it for planting.

A quick trip to Lowes and we had the rest of the supplies needed to get my garden into tip top shape, including some seeds and plant starts.

Once back home we laid out the finishing touches including weed blocking fabric, the set-up for the electric fence (to keep out those pesky bunnies and groundhogs), and a stone border so dad can easily mow around it.

Now all we need is some mulch and magic horse poop and I’ll be ready to grow some veggies! I’m so excited I can hardly wait.

For now I’m off to take a much needed nap, because boy is gardening exhausting! Ammo the Dachshund

Afternoon Snack

Ok. This is your warning now. If you have a weak stomach, do not read any further. If you are eating breakfast, lunch, or dinner, do not read any further. I am not responsible for any discomfort that might happen upon you after you read what’s next. You have been warned!

That being said, this is what I look like most afternoons on the farm. Rummaging around for what can only be described as the perfect afternoon snack – well at least to most dogs.

It takes a little searching, but eventually I find what I’m looking for.

Yum Yum.

*Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Magic Horse Poop

Horse poop.

For those of you that don’t eat, sleep, and breathe it on a daily basis like I do – you don’t know what you’re missing. I’ve eaten my fair share of it, and let me tell you, it is yummy.

According to my mom, it has other uses too. Apparently it can help you grow things, like things that you can eat, and in my mom’s case it grew cucumbers. BIG cucumbers! I tried one, and honestly, I don’t see what all the fuss is about. They taste like leaves. I’d much rather eat horse poop.

Because of this magic horse poop that grows things my mom had so many cucumbers that we couldn’t give them away fast enough. So we did what anyone with lots of cucumbers would do…….we made PICKLES!

Ok, well I kinda just watched, but believe me, if I had hands I WOULD have helped.
