Sometimes even us farm dogs need to take a break from chores to have a little fun. So when our new friends over at Tether Tug sent Trooper and I one of their tug toys we knew it would be the perfect way to let out a little energy out on the farm.

Dad set it up in the grass for us by hammering a small pipe into the ground and then you simply pop the tug pole into it. Dad says it’s super simple too to just pull right out and mow over when it’s time to mow the lawn.

Mom initially popped a small treat into the rope to get me interested in it, which totally got me excited about the Tether Tug!

While I certainly love a new toy, I tend to like to just shake or chew my toys to death rather than to play tug with them, but somebody else I know was totally up to the challenge of a good old tugging match to really test out the Tether Tug….

Trooper wasted no time in showing me exactly how you’re supposed to play with the Tether Tug.

Even Cricket ventured out to see what all the commotion was about, and pretty soon we all started cheering for Trooper to PULL HARDER!

And pull he did!

But no matter how hard Trooper pulled that Tether Tug stayed firmly in the ground where it was supposed to be, and boy did Trooper have fun tugging!

The cool thing about these Tether Tugs is that not only do they come in various sizes (for small and big dogs) as well as indoor and outdoor versions, but you can also customize the tugging toy based on the kind of toy your dog likes to tug with. How cool is that!

  1. Yes, he loves tug!!! It was one of the only ways he was allowed to play when he was a guide dog in training, and so it’s one of his favorites, because he was never discouraged from playing it. Which kind of breaks my heart a little bit, but I was less knowledgeable at the time. At least he has a solid game he enjoys!

  2. Bowser loves tug of war. He loves any kind of play! He’s a young doxie with lots of energy to burn. A tired dachshund is a happy dachshund (and dachshund mom lol)

  3. My dog is mixed on tug of war, but I know my roommates dog would love it! Plus, maybe he will teach my dog to love it too:-).

  4. Wow – Trooper was really giving that toy “what for!” I love how Cricket comes to check everything out. XXX OOO

  5. Bella would love this and go crazy if her favorite squeaky was tied to the end haha.

  6. Ohh man. My dog, Dre, LOVES to play tug of war !! It is his FAVORITE game to play!!!

  7. Omg. I am so happy I found this blog. My brother and I were surprised with Miniature Dachshund and have been looking for dots specific blogs for tip and gear. 🙂

  8. My dogs love to play tug-of-war whether it is with me or with each other 🙂 They’d would love this for the yard!
