Sometimes even us farm dogs need to take a break from chores to have a little fun. So when our new friends over at Tether Tug sent Trooper and I one of their tug toys we knew it would be the perfect way to let out a little energy out on the farm.

Dad set it up in the grass for us by hammering a small pipe into the ground and then you simply pop the tug pole into it. Dad says it’s super simple too to just pull right out and mow over when it’s time to mow the lawn.

Mom initially popped a small treat into the rope to get me interested in it, which totally got me excited about the Tether Tug!

While I certainly love a new toy, I tend to like to just shake or chew my toys to death rather than to play tug with them, but somebody else I know was totally up to the challenge of a good old tugging match to really test out the Tether Tug….

Trooper wasted no time in showing me exactly how you’re supposed to play with the Tether Tug.

Even Cricket ventured out to see what all the commotion was about, and pretty soon we all started cheering for Trooper to PULL HARDER!

And pull he did!

But no matter how hard Trooper pulled that Tether Tug stayed firmly in the ground where it was supposed to be, and boy did Trooper have fun tugging!

The cool thing about these Tether Tugs is that not only do they come in various sizes (for small and big dogs) as well as indoor and outdoor versions, but you can also customize the tugging toy based on the kind of toy your dog likes to tug with. How cool is that!

PULLER Review & Giveaway

Disclosure: This review and giveaway is brought to you by Puller.

Puller Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Recently I got the chance to test a product for dogs that is designed to promote physical exercise.

Puller Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Puller is a training device made up of two foam rings that encourages physical exercise, helps dogs to relieve stress, and improves overall physical shape and muscle development.

Puller Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Now I like to think I keep a pretty sleek figure myself, but there is always ways to improve!

Puller claims that with 3 simple exercises for 20 minutes a day your dog can get the equivalent of a 2 mile intensive run or 2 hours of exhausting exercise (like playing fetch).

Puller Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

So Trooper and I decided to take Puller out to the farm for a little exercise.

Puller Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

The 3 exercises that Puller promotes is running, jumping, and pulling.

Trooper and I both enjoyed getting in some physical activity with Puller. We also hear the Puller floats (although we haven’t had a chance to test it), and it’s foam material is nice and soft on our teeth.

And it’s because of the foam material that Puller is not designed to be a toy you leave for your dog to play with on their own, but a device to help you keep your pup fit and active with you.

So to get some inspiration for our next workout, Trooper and I checked out this Puller video with TreT….

After watching that Trooper and I figured, hey, we can do that….so we shot our own Puller video…

Yeah, I think we might need a little more practice before we’re as coordinated with Puller as TreT – but at least we got a good workout trying.

Puller Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Well, despite our lack of coordination, Trooper and I agree that Puller is a fun device to get us excited about “working out”. Trooper especially got very excited when he saw Puller come out. I preferred to play with my Puller in my basement at home with mom and dad – it’s always been my “workout” room where I spend a lot of time in the winter burning calories and getting some physical exercise in when it’s too cold outside.

So if you want to get your best friend some exercise too, you can fetch your own Puller in standard or mini size from Collar and also on Amazon.

And now for the best part…..

Quick and Simple Tug Toy for Dogs

Valentine's Day DIY Flirt Pole - interactive dog toy // Ammo the Dachshund

You might remember that back in February my mom helped me make a Flirt Pole. If you’ve never heard of a Flirt Pole, its basically a cat toy for dogs.

And if you or your dog have never played with one before, let me tell you, it’s seriously the most fun toy EVER! I could play with one of these ALL DAY LONG.

And since I’ve gotten so much use out of my Flirt Pole at home (and still do), mom decided to make me a quick and simple one to use at the shop as well. So after gathering up a few supplies that were laying around the shop I made another easy version of the flirt pole in less than 5 minutes.

Supplies:

  • PVC Pipe
  • Rope
  • Fleece or Dog Toy
  • Electric Drill
  • Scissors

The World of Dog Agility Toys

Unknown to me until recently there is this whole world out there of secret dog agility toys. Toys designed to encourage dogs to jump, run, and soar over the agility equipment. Toys that any dog would love – regardless of whether or not they love dog agility too.

Clean Run Toys // Ammo the Dachshund

So I convinced my mom that since I’m training so hard in my weekly dog agility classes that I MUST have some of these dog agility training toys. So mom purchased me a few goodies from Clean Run.

Clean Run Toys // Ammo the Dachshund

This jackpot and tug toy is designed to win over even the toughest of critics. I only use this one when I’m training, but it’s mighty mighty fun to “kill”.

Clean Run Toys // Ammo the Dachshund

These handy toys are called food tubes. Stuff them with a yummy treats (dried hotdogs were my choice) and then you can shake them to get your dogs attention and even toss them. The handy top makes dispensing them super easy (which is totally my kind of toy).

Clean Run Toys // Ammo the Dachshund

My favorite of the toys is the rip n tug treat dispensing ball. You put your dog’s favorite treats in the center, then velco it closed.

Clean Run Toys // Ammo the Dachshund

I’ve been having a blast playing fetch with this ball, then ripping it apart to grab my treats.

Now where exactly has this hidden world of dog agility toys been all my life! It’s a magical magical world, and as I’ve already told mom, I think I need to test them all now! Ammo the Dachshund

P.S. if you’re interested in dog agility and want to try the fun activity with your dog too, make sure you check out our sponsor The Dog Agility Shop, for great materials to make inexpensive DIY agility equipment for your own backyard.

Disclosure: I was not paid or perked to write about these toys or this company. I purchased these toys with my own monies, and simply wanted to share the goodness with all of you!
