Emmi-Pet Dog Dental Toothbrush Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

My new friend at Emmi-Dent recently sent me their Emmi-Pet Ultrasound Toothbrush to test out. I was super excited to try what is essentially an “electric toothbrush” for pets.

What makes the Emmi-Pet different than a regular toothbrush for your dog is that it generates ultrasound with a patented ultrasonic microchip that is embedded inside the brush head.

This tiny chip creates up to 84 million ultrasonic impulses per minute and transmits them via the bristles and the special Emmi-pet toothpaste onto the teeth giving your pet a superior cleaning.

Just like electric toothbrushes for humans, it comes with a charging station and toothbrush heads for big and small dogs (which you can also order replacements for when they wear out).

Now I know what you’re probably thinking. An electric toothbrush is great and all, but there is no way my dog is going to let me put a vibrating toothbrush in their mouth. But guess what, it doesn’t actually vibrate – at least not enough that you or your dog could even tell it’s moving.

The Emmi-Pet is making those 84 million ultrasonic movements a minute so fast that you can’t even tell. And to clean your pet’s teeth you don’t even need to actually bush, just simply hold the toothbrush to your pets teeth for 5 seconds per tooth.

I’ve never been a big fan of getting my teeth brushed (I tolerate it), but this I didn’t mind at all. I sat quietly while mom held the brush up to my teeth.

The ultrasonic impulses are able to penetrate teeth and gums destroying bacteria and germs where bristles can’t reach. I even allowed mom to reach my back teeth with the brush – something she previously had trouble with when using a regular toothbrush that required brushing. This is essential in reducing and protecting against periodontal (gum) disease.

Mom even took the human equivalent to this toothbrush for a spin, and said she noticed her teeth did feel a bit cleaner after using it for a few days. The human version comes with vibration in the hand piece, so it’s more similar to most electric toothbrushes you may have seen, but still has the ultrasonic vibrations as well as the patented chip technology in the brush head.

The Emmi-Pet Ultrasound Toothbrush retails for $199, but you can get 20% off with code AMMO20. I’m loving this product and can’t wait to see how much whiter my teeth are in a few months!

And now for the best part….

  1. My poor Magda really needs this. I broke down and had her teeth cleaned in 2012. But unfortunately, age has won over again. The poor girl’s breath is so bad

  2. I don’t, the vet does ~ once every few years; but she does get greenies…does that count??

  3. Hoo boy. Twice a year maybe? I could definitely use this to stay better on track with brushing her teeth!

  4. I’m not good at keeping up a brushing routine for our fur-baby … We do regular dental cleanings at the vets … This looks like a great way to maintain in between vet cleanings thanks Ammo

  5. I try to brush my dog’s teeth every day. I have tried wipes and peanut butter flavored toothpaste but my little doxie still doesn’t care for it. You dachshunds are sure stubborn. For as many years as I’ve been brushing them she still is a stinker about it. I think she might like this toothbrush though.

  6. I’ve been looking for a way to brush my stubborn doxie’s teeth! I would love to try this on him… so far he won’t put up with anything else!

  7. I don’t brush Poppy’s teeth as much as I should. Thanks for the reminder!!

  8. I brush his teeth several times a week. I keep meaning to try for daily though.

  9. Hi Ammo! You are so full of ressources! Thank you for all your sharings… I bought the car dog seat because of your review and it’s wonderfull.
Anyway, I brush my miniature dachshund teeth with a regular brush!!! Hard work! The only thing that makes it work is the toothpaste!!! Poultry flavor! 🙂

  10. Haven’t been brushing Barbarella’s teeth regularly, but I do brush them when I remember. I like your tray that you keep your toothbrush and toothpaste on. Where did you get it?

  11. My boys get their teeth brushed a few times.. Could use a little more TLC on the teeth though :/ they just are so fussy I tried the gel and I thought it was working a bit but they don’t enjoy that :/

  12. Mini’s teeth used to be full of plaque about a year and a half ago. Since I started brushing them, giving her dental treats and pig ears, now they have little plaque on them and look great. I try to brush Mini’s teeth every day to keep them that way. I’m not entering the giveaway because Mini is doing just fine with a regular doggie toothbrush, I wouldn’t want to win something I didn’t need that someone else did. I’m sure it’s a good toothbrush though, since you like it.

  13. Thanks for telling us about this; it looks great. Brushing our mini dox’s teeth was so hard that it slowed from every other day to almost weekly to monthly to yearly at the vet. Yay for this toothbrush!

  14. I brush the dogs’ teeth weekly with a finger brush. They also get chews and a regular 6 month or yearly cleaning at the vet when needed.

  15. We don’t brush yet because we will be adopting our dog next month that being said I intend to do it daily, I want give them the best chance at health and preserve their teeth as best as I can.

  16. I am trying to get better at brushing Jasper’s teeth nightly, and he likes it, but all he wants to do is lick the toothpaste… 🙂

  17. My dogs vet told me he has gum disease and needs “surgery” to clean and repair any damage…but it will cost upwards of $1000 and I can’t afford that. I have been looking into dog toothpaste for him but don’t know if it will help. This toothbrush, I think, would be a great place to start his dental care. I should have started it when he was a baby but I didn’t now any better. He is now 8 and I hope I can clean up his mouth!
    Thanks for this opportunity.
    Ali

  18. Griffin was adopted at about 1 year old in December and once we were comfortable with each other, I started brushing his teeth. Now every night before bedtime we have toothbrush time thanks to poultry flavor toothpaste!

  19. Hi there,

I saw this review from a few years ago. I’ve been looking into the Emmi Pet and was wondering if you know where one can be purchased? I am in Canada, but shipping from the US would be okay. I can only find sites in the UK and Germany. Thanks!
