Friday Fetch: Weenie Sweaters

Ok, so I know that NOT everyone out there that reads my blog is a Dachshund, but I just can’t help but come across some of those fabulous products that have DACHSHUND written all over them. So if you aren’t a Dachshund, or you don’t have a Dachshund friend (for shame!) then look away. Otherwise, check out these totally awesome sweaters made to fit the short and long!

Every Stitch Counts makes sweaters (and neck warmers called snoods) from all-natural re purposed virgin fibers. All of the wools are felted making them especially strong, warm and weather “proof”.

Since my Pennsylvania winters can be a little harsh for me, I decided to order myself a sweater! Being that I’m a Tweenie (for you non-doxie folks that means I’m too big to be a miniature dachshund and too small to be a standard dachshund), there wasn’t a selection of sweaters in my size. But luckily Susan from Every Stitch Counts said she would make one specifically to fit me!

So if you are looking for something to keep your little Dachshund friend warm, be sure to shop the handmade shop of Every Stitch Counts. P.S. Tell them Ammo sent you!

Frodo the Dachshund models his sweater and snood! Doesn’t he look super warm?

And here’s me in my new sweater!

Look! I can even stretch really long and it still fits!

You better believe I’m super warm and toasty out at the farm now!

P.S. I was not paid to write this post, I just like warm and fuzzy sweaters!

  1. Ammo! While not everyone reading your blog is a Dachshund . . . you do have a devoted reader who is a Greyhound! That is so great that there are sweaters out there just for doxies like you! (I checked ’em out but I don’t think they’d fit me – lol). I know how hard it can be to find clothes since I am a little oddly shaped myself. I suppose you can say we both go to great lengths to look good! 🙂

    • Hi Addison! While we were having the same problem finding coats for us low-riders, lol, we came across a site for greyhound sweaters and coats. Check out “Chilly Dogs” . They look like really nice sweaters and coats for you tall leggy guys. Good luck!

  2. I love your Friday fetches! Do you have any problem with Ammo walking out the sweater? Molly has a couple of sweaters, but she always ends up walking out of them and wearing them as some sort of a weird wiener skirt.

  3. Tis True, not everyone reading your blog and pages is a Dachtsund, or Mom or Dad to a Dachtsund, but love you little guys just the same…I am a Tante to 3 little ones and love them with all my heart…

  4. Bludog, Oscar the doxie has the same problem so rarely wears sweaters though he freezes nearly all year long. I’ve bought long sleeved, no sleeved, tighter, looser. He walks out of every one of them. Occasionally he will get stuck with one foot in and one foot out

    • Dear Alicia and Susan: In our adventure to find the perfect sweater that I ,Jackson can’t squirm out of, we came across a website named Weinerwraps.com. THey make fleece sweaters and coats for dachshunds. They have so many different sizes, for both chubby doxies like me, Emma, and also for us slim types like me, Jackson. We just ordered another sweater and coat. We can’t wait for them to come in time for all the Christmas time visiting we do. Good luck.

  5. Alicia and Bludog, I think Oscar’s and Molly’s problem with sweaters is that most of them “off the rack” are too stretchy. Even when they appear snug, they are just too easy to wiggle out of because of all the “give” they have. Felted materials don’t usually have that stretchiness. I had to invent something for Frodo, ’cause I was tired of carrying him around under my sweater: his nose is cold :O

  6. Ammo, I don’t know about the snood (what in the heck does that stand for anyway) but the sweaters look warm and toasty. Chester and Gretel need the arm holes to be cut above their shoulders since they need to articualtion for hiking but since these are cuustom, I assume I could request that.
