Trendy Coats to Keep your Dachshund Warm

Disclaimer: This review is brought to you by Noodle and Friends.

If you have are owned by a dachshund then you know how hard it can be to find items to fit them. And even sometimes when you can find something that fits – it’s not always the most flattering of outfits. My friends, it doesn’t have to be so, because my pals at Noodle and Friends have just what you need.

Noodle and Friends makes functional and fashionable gear with little dachshund bodies in mind!

Sweet Noodle (and her friends) sent me over some of their super cute coats to try, and boy were they just what I needed to keep me nice and toasty this winter season.

This Red Blizzard Parka with Thinsulate is the ultimate in doxie warmth. It’s got a waterproof and windproof outer layer as well as an internal layer of Thinsulate insulation.

One of the great things about these Noodle and Friends coats is that they are designed to completely cover and protect us dachshund’s sensitive underbellies. Nothing like running through the mud at the farm and keeping your tummy nice and dry!

Speaking of the farm, I wasted no time in taking my new Blizzard Parka to the barn, mainly to show-off how stylish I looked to all my pony friends.

Mom says she likes the bright red color too, because now that it’s hunting season in Pennsylvania I have to make sure I stand out everywhere I go. (not that my dazzling good looks didn’t do that already).

I also took for a spin this Reversible Peacoat in navy blue. I felt like I was ready for the open seas (if I only had a ship) with this trendy jacket, the buttons even featured cute little anchors on them!

This 100% wool peacoat was super warm as well, and I’ve been having fun wearing it to work since it’s a little dressy for the farm!

One of my absolute favorite things about the Noodle and Friends coats is that they all have extra strong d-rings sewn into the jackets. You have no idea how nice it is to not have to put on a harness UNDER your coat. But should you choose, there is also a hole to hook a leash to your harness as well if you still want to wear one.

Another fun feature is their coats include pockets that are actually functional. You can store extra dog bags, cookies, or if you are super cool like me……you can carry around your own business cards.

The Noodle and Friends Peacoat is also reversible, so you can get two looks for the price of one!

Noodle also sent me a fun little squeaky toy, which I had a blast annoying mom and dad with. BEST DAY EVER. 🙂

The only thing extra I wish these coats had was a label sewn into the coat with washing instructions (although they do come with instructions in the packaging) – mostly because my mom is super forgetful and tends to ruin clothing when she throws all my stinky barn wear into the wash. So make sure you mind the washing instructions for these coats, as some of them may need to be hand washed!

So if you’re looking for something extra special to keep your dachshunds warm in this winter, make sure you check out Noodle and Friends. Their coats come in a variety of sizes (I am wearing size medium, and I weigh about 17 lbs), and are lovingly made in the USA.

Which coat is your favorite?

Voyagers K9 Product Review & Giveaway

Disclaimer: This review and giveaway is brought to you by Voyagers K9.

Voyagers K9 Apparel is a company that I am already pretty familiar with – having owned two of their custom made coats for several years now. So when I got the chance to test out one of their raincoats, I did a little happy dance (in the rain of course).

Voyagers K9 Apparel for Dogs // Product Review // Ammo the Dachshund

The unique thing about these coats are that they can be custom made to fit your dog, and not just pure breeds – ANY BREED OF DOG. So I sent in my measurements and pretty soon there was a package waiting at my doorstep with this spiffy new red raincoat that fits me oh-so-perfectly. I mean just look how tailored it fits, which is no easy feat for an oddly shaped dachshund body.

Voyagers K9 Apparel for Dogs // Product Review // Ammo the Dachshund

Unlike their winter and cold weather coats, this raincoat is light weight with a mesh lining – meaning even though it’s summer I don’t have to worry about getting overheated in it.

I love the attached hood as it is the perfect for keeping my little ears dry, but I also have the option to unvelcro the front and fold it over too.

Voyagers K9 Apparel for Dogs // Product Review // Ammo the Dachshund

The coats from Voyagers K9 Apparel also come with holes to attach a leash to a collar and optional ones to attach to a harness as well.

Voyagers K9 Apparel for Dogs // Product Review // Ammo the Dachshund

And my final test of my spiffy new raincoat was to see how it faired in the rain – which as luck would have it a storm was rolling in on the farm!

Voyagers K9 Apparel for Dogs // Product Review // Ammo the Dachshund

I started off slow – testing my new coat inside under the drops of rain that were bouncing into the barn.

Voyagers K9 Apparel for Dogs // Product Review // Ammo the Dachshund

Each drop beaded up on my coat and kept me perfectly dry underneath, but the true test would be romping in the puddles outside! Check it out for yourself in my instagram videos below:

My new raincoat even kept me dry enough that I wanted to take a potty break outside in the rain – now that’s saying something!

The fact that I didn’t even need a bath afterwards is proof that this is one of the best raincoats out there! And if it’s anything like my winter jackets from Voyagers K9 (which have lasted me for over 3 years now), then you know it will hold up to the rigors of farm life!

So now onto the super awesome news for you!

Throwback Thursday: Sweater Weather

One of the questions I get a lot is why do I tolerate wearing coats, sweaters, and even costumes so well? The answer is simple, I was born in October and warm outfits became an important part of my everyday life to keep me warm at a very young age!

Not to mention I looked oh-so-good in a hand knitted sweater!

Missing the Farm

Those of you who are regular readers of my blog know that I’m a pretty active guy. I’m always going on exciting adventures, taking training classes, and generally just running around (boy do I love to run). But ever since Mom had surgery I’ve had to stay home a lot to take care of her. I don’t mind taking care of mom (and the good news is only 2 more weeks before we can return to regular adventures), but I do very much miss some things, like visiting my friends on the farm.

Missing the Farm // Ammo the Dachshund

The good news is, Mom was missing the farm just as much as me, so over the weekend we took a trip out to visit all of my friends.

Missing the Farm // Ammo the Dachshund

The Chincoteague Ponies missed me the most, and I missed Boomerang, Blitz, and Minnow just as much!

Missing the Farm // Ammo the Dachshund

I also missed running! So I ran and ran and ran!

Missing the Farm // Ammo the Dachshund

I also helped do farm chores, like herding the horses out to the pasture.

Missing the Farm // Ammo the Dachshund

And then I ran some more! (Check out how much further along Trooper’s new house is! I can’t wait to give you the tour once Mom can walk a little better).

Missing the Farm // Ammo the Dachshund

Trooper and I also did some wrestling. I won as always.

Then I spent the rest of my time on the farm helping to brush Minnow, my favorite pony in the whole wide world!

My time on the farm came and went too quickly. But I know soon we will be back to visiting my friends nearly every day – and it will be Spring! I can hardly wait! Ammo the Dachshund

Throwback Thursday: Athletic Ammo

Since I’ve been laying a little low lately (while mom’s recovering from knee surgery), I decided it would be fun to share some of my adorably cute photos from my puppy years. I didn’t have a blog back then, so these photos haven’t seen the light of day in quite some time. But have no fear, it’s Throwback Thursday time, and I’ve dug through my archives and found some super sweet puppy pictures to brighten your day!

As you can see, even at a couple months old I was quite the athletic guy! It’s no wonder my muscles are huge now. And check out my spots! I bet you didn’t know that I’m actually a red dapple, and at certain times of the year (when the sun hits me just right) my spots are much more visible.

I hope you enjoyed my #throwbackthursday – perhaps I’ll have to make this a regular feature on the blog! Ammo the Dachshund

Friday Fetch: Obtrack Dog Coats

You all know I love a good coat, especially during the cold winters here in Pennsylvania. So when one of the blogs I read (Oscar Ate My Muffin) posted about a pet coat that they absolutely love, I knew I just had to check it out.

The Obtrack coats were designed to protect a dog’s important muscle groups, thus keeping them from injury. Their coats have multiple points of adjustments to tailor the fit to each individual dog, and they even come in Dachshund sizes! These highly breathable, but exceptionally warm coats are nothing but stylish looking – and I certainly have added one to my wish list!

Snowday with the Ponies

Ammo the Dachshund // Snowday

On Friday I got to leave work early on account of the snow that made it’s way to Pennsylvania.

Ammo the Dachshund // Snowday with the Ponies

Of course a little bit of snow never stops me from having an adventure, so I bundled up in my jackets and decided to have some fun on the farm. Did you know that ponies like to have snowdays too?

Farmyard Fun with a Dog in the Fog

This is totally going to be the name of my children’s book someday, “Farmyard Fun with a Dog in the Fog”. It sounds like something straight out of a Dr. Suess book.

Ammo the Dachshund plays in the fog with his Farmyard Friends

And truth be told, I always have a lot of farmyard fun in the fog!

Ammo the Dachshund plays in the fog with his Farmyard Friends

The damp blanket of foggy goodness seems to bring out all of my friends to play.

I’m always the first to grab a stick and entice my friends to join in the fun.

Catch me if you can ponies!

Before I could turn around to see who was joining me in this fun game of chase I was in the middle of nowhere, and the fog had covered me in it’s blanket!

I thought I might be lost.

Cricket got worried when she could no longer see my yellow coat in the pasture.

And Blitz began nickering for me so I could find my way back to my friends.

Friday Fetch: Richards Harness Coat

Now that the winter weather is here, it’s time for me to really start bundling up in my layers, especially on the farm. One of the things that always plagues me is that I not only end up layering multiple coats to stay warm, but I also have to fit in a harness somewhere too.

So when I came across Richards Harness Coat I thought, now why didn’t I think of that!? Never mind the fact that I can’t sew (it’s those cumbersome paws)!
