Barn Dogs Get Busy on the Farm

As barn dogs, there is always a lot of tasks for Trooper and I to do. And to be honest, this farm just wouldn’t run properly without us.

Trooper is always on my case to help him be a lookout. “Lookout for low flying birds” “Lookout for cars pulling down the farm driveway” “Lookout for anything suspicious and out of the ordinary”

I on the other hand usually have my own ideas about what we should be actually looking out for.

What about “Lookout for the snakes that accidentally get baled in the hay”

I kicked off the new year by sharing my very special Christmas adventures.

I shared my New Years Resolutions.

I took a trip to the playground.

I took to the sky and went on a plane ride.

I shared how to get rid of icky pet stains.

I shared a collection of 10 winter coats the fit dachshunds.

I went sledding with my ponies.

Trooper and I shared why we love playing with socks so much.

I shared how my teeth are doing after I’ve been brushing them for several months.

Well, January kicked off to a fantastic start. I always love looking back to see what fun I had, it makes me hungry for even more adventures in February! What do you think I should do next?

Dachshund Goes Sledding with Ponies

When the winter rolls around I sometimes (like most of you) spend a little more time indoors. Because honestly, I’d much rather be warm and toasty then freezing my tail off! But when it snows, that all changes, because one of my favorite activities involves a fresh dusting of snow and some of my furry four-legged friends.

All I need is a warm winter coat, an inner tube, and a willing pony! Good thing Boomerang and Blitz were more than happy to let me hitch a ride.

I hear even more snow is headed my way this Saturday……AND I CAN’T WAIT!

Over the weekend we held the last of our series of horse events at the farm for the season. I’m always the bestest of helpers, see there’s me guarding the arena equipment before the show starts!

I take on many duties when event day arrives – here’s me and Trooper helping to set up the food booth.

I also help to direct people to the Secretary table – where they need to sign up for the event.

But my number one job on event day is always the meet and greet committee. I’ve had lots of practice with this being a shop dog!

Whenever it’s time to work on training the ponies I’m never too far as I love offering encouraging words to my ponies as they learn new skills and tricks.

My buddy Boomerang here is learning how to be more comfortable on a teeter totter.

Sometimes though, the ponies learn best by watching someone else do it first. So I offer up my skills, and tell Boomerang to watch this as I plod effortlessly across the teeter totter. In theory, watching someone else do it helps my ponies to realize it’s not as scary as it seems.

Although it would also help if Boomerang was actually paying attention instead of sneaking grass behind me! Sigh.

A Dog’s Day at the Devon Horse Show

As per my yearly tradition I always hit up the Devon Horse Show at least once while is running. Devon is one of the oldest and largest outdoor multi-breed competitions in the United States today, and as a bonus it’s VERY dog friendly!
