4th of July at the Fair

Yeah, so it’s been nearly 2 weeks, but I realized that I completely forgot to share my adventures from the 4th of July! I guess I’ve been so busy having fun that I just plain forgot. Well, better late than never – so here’s how it all went down….

I spent a good portion of my day on the 4th at the Downingtown Good Neighbor Day in town.

I oohed and ahhed over all the giant stuffies just begging to be de-stuffed that were hanging around.

I also may have pouted a bit when mom said it was way too hot (and I was too little) to go on any rides.

I got over it pretty quick though when we started to walk around through the craft venders and I got to meet some new friends.

And don’t get me started on the food! Is it just me or is fair food just so delish? There were so many choices I just didn’t know what to get.

Mom and I ended up sharing some chicken on a stick, and we were so glad we did – because it’s the best chicken we’ve ever had! Later we even got some funnel cake.

The nice thing about Downingtown Good Neighbor Day is that it’s right along the Brandywine River, which means I got to take a dip in the river to cool off – which was perfect on this hot hot summer day.

After spending such a nice afternoon at the fair I headed over to MomMom and PopPop’s house for a cookout and swim.

Adventures completed, and a belly full of yummy food -I can safely say it was one of my favorite days! What fun things did you do to celebrate on the 4th? Ammo the Dachshund

Friday Fetch: Dining with Dogs

dining with dogsI like dining out just as much as my Mom and Dad, but finding restaurants that are dog friendly can sometimes be a bit tricky. So when I stumbled across the Dining with Dogs website the other day, I thought it was a great resource for pooches that hate to be left out on dinner dates.

Dining with Dogs features reviews of restaurants that allow dogs to dine in their outdoor eating areas. Currently they only have reviews in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, and New York – but anyone can submit a review of a restaurant in your own area.

Sadly there weren’t any listed in my home state of Pennsylvania, but I fixed that by submitting a review of one of my favorite restaurants to dine at, the Four Dogs Tavern in West Chester, PA. (It’s also were I first met Annie, the motorcycle mama) Hopefully it will be up on the site soon!

So I encourage all my fans to submit some reviews of their favorite pet-friendly restaurants so pets everywhere can find the best places to dine!

Friday Fetch: Supper Time!

With Thanksgiving in the US just around the corner it got me thinking about eating (of course). So I dished up some of my favorite finds to make chowing down oh-so-fun! Gobble Gobble.

Swimming and Dining

Don’t worry, when I took a dip in the Brandywine River over the weekend I made sure to swim BEFORE dining out.

Ah! That was just the right amount of refreshing on an 80 degree fall day!

Dinner out at Appetites was grand, although the waitress failed to listen when I ordered the steak! At least mom was willing to share her hot ham sandwhich with me. Yum Yum.

Food on the Farm

Horse farms are great if you are a horse. There always seems to be food to eat no matter where you are….hay, grain, grass, treats…it never ends! But for a starving (ok ok I’m not really starving) doxie, you have to be a little more resourceful.

Now grant it, there’s horse poop….always good for a little snack. And you could opt to hunt down your own dinner (ie mice, rats, moles).

But if you’re feeling a little lazy (and it’s just a tad bit chilly outside the barn) then there are some tasty treats to be found right inside the stable.

You have to know just where to look

There’s a secret stash of yummy stuff right behind the hay

Score! If you do a little digging, right under the hay are bits of dropped grain that the ponies spill!

I guess my secret spot is not so secret anymore!

Just make sure the hay is UNDER the feed tub….otherwise you are just wasting your time my friend!
