Post Turkey Hangover

Thanksgiving may have been last week, but that doesn’t mean I’ve recovered from it just yet! Here’s just how I celebrated this year…

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

I kicked off my Thanksgiving with a trip to the farm – and as you can see I had snow on Turkey Day!

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

As lovely as I find the snow, I was thankful that Trooper’s new house has heat – because I was looking forward to being warm!

Trooper spent most of the Thanksgiving morning doing this – I suspect he just didn’t want to share his new Puller toys with me….but that’s ok, I’m still thankful for my best friend – even if he doesn’t like to share!

Eventually Trooper stepped away from his Puller hoarding to share some Canidae cookies with me, YUM!

And I had an obligatory Thanksgiving potty break. 🙂

Now even though we didn’t have a Thanksgiving meal at Trooper’s new house (as there is still lots of construction to be done), that didn’t stop me from hanging around in the kitchen.

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

Because regardless of wether there is food or not, the kitchen is where you’re supposed to be on Thanksgiving day!

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

Before I knew it though it was time to wave goodbye to my ponies and head off on my next Thanksgiving adventure.

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

At Mom Mom & Pop Pop’s house I started where I had left off at the farm….hanging around the kitchen.

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

Only this time there was an actual turkey!

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

Thanksgiving should be renamed “Torture Dogs with a Big Plate of Meat Day”, because it is TORTURE!

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

And even though I didn’t get to have more than a bite or two of turkey, I did get to enjoy my own feast complete with doggie stew that came with my Barkbox this month!

It comes at no surprise that my post turkey day self looked like this. But boy was it a good day with my family! Ammo the Dachshund

P.S. Don’t forget there is still time to order one of my Adventure Awaits T-shirts for Christmas and to benefit the Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue! Hurry before it’s too late!

Farmhouse Helper

Farmhouse Helper // Ammo the Dachshund

Every day my best friend Trooper is just a wee bit closer to being able to move into his new house on the farm. I know, I know, I’ve been saying that for years…..but this is definitely going to be the year!

Farmhouse Helper // Ammo the Dachshund

Especially since I’ve been around the lend a helping paw! Just check out the video below of me collecting the trash into a nice little pile….

Watch this video on instagram.

Farmhouse Helper // Ammo the Dachshund

I’m a pretty enthusiastic helper, as you can see.

Farmhouse Helper // Ammo the Dachshund

Trooper on the other hand never looks thrilled about helping out. But honestly, I don’t blame him….he’s been helping everyday for years!

Farmhouse Helper // Ammo the Dachshund

Don’t worry buddy, the work will be done soon (we hope), and you’ll be able to nap in your new house!

I even kept the bed warm for you! Ammo the Dachshund

Tiling a Farmhouse

Tiling a Farmhouse // Ammo the Dachshund

Over the weekend I decided to lend a helping paw and help my pal Trooper on the continuing work on his soon to be new farmhouse home.

Tiling a Farmhouse // Ammo the Dachshund

While progress on Trooper’s new home is moving along, this weekend’s goal was to continue tiling.

Tiling a Farmhouse // Ammo the Dachshund

Trooper and I knew just what to do to help too! We started a wrestling match to make sure that all the tile was nice and secure.

Tiling a Farmhouse // Ammo the Dachshund

And good news, it held up just fine to our playtime antics.

Tiling a Farmhouse // Ammo the Dachshund

There’s still lots more work to do, and mom says we better learn how to grout soon because it’s going to be a big big project!

Tiling a Farmhouse // Ammo the Dachshund

Don’t worry though, I’ve already started taking notes!

What sort of projects did your pup help you with this weekend? Ammo the Dachshund

Stonework

Stonework // Ammo the Dachshund

When I arrived at the farm the other day it seemed that something was a bit different.

Stonework // Ammo the Dachshund

Upon further inspection it seems that the workers had come and started on the stonework for Trooper’s new farmhouse.

Stonework // Ammo the Dachshund

I was a bit perplexed as to why the workers had started without me.

Stonework // Ammo the Dachshund

I mean really, just look at my strong muscles – I could easily lift those stones!

Stonework // Ammo the Dachshund

I decided to check out the work site, just incase there was any lingering work that I could pitch in and do.

Stonework // Ammo the Dachshund

Ok fine, I really just wanted to make sure that the crew didn’t leave any cookies laying around.

Stonework // Ammo the Dachshund

Stonework // Ammo the Dachshund

Sadly, no cookies were to be found. I mean what kind of work site is this anyway?

Stonework // Ammo the Dachshund

But I did find a whole pile of stones that still need to be installed, so I’m pretty sure the crew will be calling me to help soon! I’ll offer to bring the cookies.Ammo the Dachshund

Barn Raising

Ammo the Dachshund // Barn Raising // Timber Frame

Trooper and I were hanging out on the farm this morning because the Timber Frame has arrived for the new farmhouse.

Ammo the Dachshund // Barn Raising // Timber Frame

The Timbers arrived on the truck to be used in the construction of Trooper’s new post and beam house being built on the farm.

Ammo the Dachshund // Barn Raising // Timber Frame

Ammo the Dachshund // Barn Raising // Timber Frame

My initial inspection earned a paws up review from me – and I told the boys to start loading up the crane!

Ammo the Dachshund // Barn Raising // Timber Frame

Ammo the Dachshund // Barn Raising // Timber Frame

After the crane piled all the timbers into the new house, Trooper and I were anxious to see how they would put them together.

We watched from afar for a bit, but eventually we just couldn’t wait any longer to get our paws dirty too.

Ammo the Dachshund // Barn Raising // Timber Frame

So Trooper convinced his mom and dad that we would promise to be safe if they let us get a little closer to see just how a post and beam house is constructed.

Ammo the Dachshund // Barn Raising // Timber Frame

As you can imagine, Trooper was very excited!

Ammo the Dachshund // Barn Raising // Timber Frame

I was enthralled with watching the construction workers help the crane lower the beams into the house.

But the very best part – getting to watch Trooper’s Dad pound some of the very first pegs into the timber frame.

It was a VERY exciting day, and Trooper even got to keep a souvenir of the day! Lucky! Ammo the Dachshund

The Building of a Farmhouse

Ammo the Dachshund // The Building of a Farmhouse

Yesterday I spent the evening exploring around the construction site of Trooper’s new farmhouse.

Ammo the Dachshund // The Building of a Farmhouse

The walls have started to go up and Trooper couldn’t be more excited.

Ammo the Dachshund // The Building of a Farmhouse

Well, that is until we realized that the house had been built on top of Trooper’s favorite bone-burying spot! Gulp!

Ammo the Dachshund // The Building of a Farmhouse

We searched high and low hoping that the construction crew had built a secret trap door so that we could retrieve Trooper’s buried bones.

Ammo the Dachshund // The Building of a Farmhouse

Trooper was mostly concerned that his new house would be haunted – on account of all the bones.

Ammo the Dachshund // The Building of a Farmhouse

Alas, there was no secret trap door – but I told Trooper that the good news was that the construction crew had built him lots and lots of doggie doors!
