Paws Jawz Review & Giveaway

Disclaimer: This post and giveaway is brought to you by Paws Jawz.

Paws Jaws Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

It’s that time of year here in Pennsylvania where we get lots of snow and ice – sometimes enough to warrant a need for us dogs to wear boots. Many times I reach for my (affiliate) Pawz Boots in these occasions because they are one of the few boots that will stay on funny shaped dachshund feet.

Paws Jaws Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Pawz Boots are made of an all natural rubber material (which feels and acts a lot like a latex balloon) and comes in a variety of sizes to fit all dogs. I wear a size small, but some of the true mini dachshunds (I’m a bit bigger weighing 20 lbs) might fit better in a smaller size.

Now there are lots of reasons that I like Pawz Boots, (reusable, disposable, inexpensive, they stay on), but there is one major drawback that I don’t like about them…..they’re a pain in the butt to put on!

Paws Jaws Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

That’s where Paws Jawz comes in! This handy contraption is designed to make putting on Pawz Boots easier and faster. Which when you’re a busy dog like me, you can’t be bothered to wait around while your parents try to finagle small rubber booties onto your feet.

Check out the video below of me testing out the Paws Jawz for the very first time:

The folks at Paws Jawz seem to have a much better technique for putting on the boots than my mom does (she may need a bit more practice – as it was her first time!), check out how they do it in their video:

Paws Jaws Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Overall I liked the Paws Jawz product, like I said before….anything to get me off on another adventure sooner is a winner in my book! You can fetch your own Paws Jawz starting at $10.99.

As a bonus you can use code Ammo1 for $1.00 off your order!

And now for the best part….

How to Make a Snow Day Even Better

Disclaimer: This post is brought to you by Barkbox, but all opinions are my own.

Adventures in the Snow with Barkbox // Ammo the Dachshund

Trooper and I love a good snow day.

There is just something so fun about running around in all that white stuff – wind in your ears, best friend by your side.

Adventures in the Snow with Barkbox // Ammo the Dachshund

Truth be told though, as much as I love romping in the snow with my best friend, things can sometimes get a bit chilly (no matter how many winter coats I have on).

Adventures in the Snow with Barkbox // Ammo the Dachshund

But, the quickest way to cure the winter-time chills is to find a good scent to keep you distracted from your freezing behind!

Adventures in the Snow with Barkbox // Ammo the Dachshund

And lucky for me, just the other day my newest scent trail let me to these new winter friends.

Because my January Barkbox has arrived!

Dachshund Goes Sledding with Ponies

When the winter rolls around I sometimes (like most of you) spend a little more time indoors. Because honestly, I’d much rather be warm and toasty then freezing my tail off! But when it snows, that all changes, because one of my favorite activities involves a fresh dusting of snow and some of my furry four-legged friends.

Ammo the Dachshund // Sledding with Ponies

It’s time to go sledding with my ponies!

Ammo the Dachshund // Sledding with Ponies

All I need is a warm winter coat, an inner tube, and a willing pony! Good thing Boomerang and Blitz were more than happy to let me hitch a ride.

I hear even more snow is headed my way this Saturday……AND I CAN’T WAIT!

Throwback Thursday: Snow Bunny

Living in Pennsylvania I’ve been through my fair share of winter storms. But one of the first BIG ones I encountered was in 2010 when it snowed so much that I could barely get through it.

Ammo in the Snow 2010

Oh who am I kidding, even when it snows just a little I can barely get through it with my short legs! But that doesn’t stop me from having a grand time!

Only time will tell if this winter will bring any record snowfalls! Just incase I’ve stocked up on snowsuits! Ammo the Dachshund

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

As many of you may already know (via Instagram and Facebook) I packed up and headed out on a little road trip this past weekend in celebration of my mom’s Birthday!

Just a little weekend getaway, we didn’t travel far (staying in my home state of Pennsylvania), but boy did we pack in as much as we could!

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

My first stop was a cute little flea market in Kutztown, PA. You might recall I’ve been here before, and while it’s usually much bigger in the warmer months it was still fun to browse around at.

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

I even had my eyes on this electric face off hockey game – which unfortunately mom and dad wouldn’t let me bring home since I already have way too many toys!

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

Next stop was the Kutztown University Bookstore (since mom and dad went to school there). I waited in the car while mom and dad shopped, and I’m still a little bit peeved they didn’t bring me back one of these fun KU dog jackets.

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

After spending some time in Kutztown, we headed up towards the mountains and stopped in at Centralia. For those of you that don’t know Centralia is the site of an underground mining fire that started in 1962. The now long since abandoned town still continues to burn underground, and remnants of the broken highway and burning can still be seen today.

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

Unfortunately most of the area was still pretty snow covered, so it took me a bit of hiking to find some remnants of the fire destruction.

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

Most of the old highway has been vandalized over the years – but it’s still an interesting site to see.

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

I’m pretty sure my middle name should be explorer, because it’s one of my favorite things to do!

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

After my visit to Centralia we headed further North to my accommodations for the night in Dushore, Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

The Endless Mountains Motel was full of log cabin charm – and I even had my very own fireplace! Looks like I wouldn’t be needing all the jackets I packed after all!

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

The next morning I kissed my new bear friend from Dushore goodbye and headed off to the Ricketts Glen State Park for some hiking!

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

While most of the hiking trails at Ricketts Glen were closed due to the snow and ice, that didn’t stop me from finding some safe trails to spend the day exploring.

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

Don’t worry the conditions weren’t quite as extreme as this photo may make it seem (it was a posed photo), and most of the trails we hiked were pretty flat.

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

After sufficiently wearing myself out with several hours of hiking I was ready to make my way back home.

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

But before we pulled into my driveway mom and dad made one last stop at Cabelas – the super store for all outdoor adventure activities. And not to be forgotten, the mecca of all hunting dog toys! Which seriously, am I not a hunting dog…..where was my shopping bag full of toys?

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

And to make things worse, mom and dad even got to see one of these furry fellows up close and personal in the Cabelas wilderness display.

Pennsylvania Roadtrip with Ammo the Dachshund

After we all got home I had fun reminiscing with my family about all the fun we had had (despite this being the best photo we took of the three of us!) and I can’t wait to go on a weekend road trip again!

Have you taken your dog on any fun road trips recently? Ammo the Dachshund

Pet Expos, Oscars, and More Snow

This past weekend was packed of lots of fun things. On Sunday mom hit up the National Pet Expo in Harrisburg, Pa. I was a little miffed she didn’t bring me along, but apparently dogs weren’t allowed in the adjoining Horse World Expo – so I had to stay home this time.

National Pet Expo // Ammo the Dachshund

Mom said there was lots of fun doggie entertainment including trick performances, flyball demos, agility, doggie dancing, and even dock diving!

The Dock Dogs put on a great show according to mom, and her video had me wishing I was brave enough to dive like that myself.

National Pet Expo // Ammo the Dachshund

Mom even stopped by the Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue booth where she met this cutie, and even spotted my photo advertising their upcoming Spring Doxie Fest! How cool!

National Pet Expo // Ammo the Dachshund

There was lots of dogs of all shapes and sizes at the National Pet Expo – although I’m not entirely positive that this gal isn’t half sheep as well?

National Pet Expo // Ammo the Dachshund

But dogs weren’t the only ones there – this little Nigerian Dwarf Goat totally stole the show in his cute little pj’s.

National Pet Expo // Ammo the Dachshund

Before mom headed home from the expo she also checked out the Horse World Expo, where she swung by the Bitless Bridle booth and spotted my pal Boomerang’s photo advertising the versatility of these bridles. (My mom is the one wearing a red shirt in the photos).

Oscars 2014 // Ammo the Dachshund

After mom got home (and I begged her for the details on the expo), we settled in to watch the Oscars with host Ellen DeGeneres! I of course wore my super hero ensemble in honor of the “heroes” theme!

Oscars 2014 // Ammo the Dachshund

I especially loved watching the compilation of cartoon super heroes!

Oscars 2014 // Ammo the Dachshund

But I have to admit some of the scenes were a bit scary – even for a hero!

Oscars 2014 // Ammo the Dachshund

I made it until about 11pm – but sometimes even super heroes can’t stay up past their bedtime!

Snow // Ammo the Dachshund

I awoke the next morning to another blanket of snow! (that groundhog was right for once predicting 6 more weeks of winter).

Snow // Ammo the Dachshund

Snow // Ammo the Dachshund

My fuzzy pony friends don’t seem to mind the cold at all, but when it is in the single digits I just can’t hang outside in the cold for long!

Snow // Ammo the Dachshund

It was still fun for as long as I lasted though!

So how was your weekend? Did you go on any fun adventures? Ammo the Dachshund

In a Foggy Backyard

Once upon a time in a foggy back yard there was a tiny little dog with great big digging paws.

In a foggy backyard // Ammo the Dachshund

In a foggy backyard // Ammo the Dachshund

He found a scent and dug and dug until his hearts content.

With all that snow he could find holes to dig in for days and days!

In a foggy backyard // Ammo the Dachshund

Oh and what’s that….there’s something there under the snow….

In a foggy backyard // Ammo the Dachshund

oh yup, that little digging pup found a treasure! Only something tiny little dogs with great big digging paws could uncover. Bunny poop!

And if you want to come over to my foggy back yard I’ll gladly share my digging treasure with all of you! Ammo the Dachshund
