Labor Day Weekend Update

After spending nearly 2 months stuck at home helping mom and dad work on my new kitchen (which I promise I will share the finished project just as soon as the finishing touches are done), I was ready for some excitement. So mom and dad decided we needed a break over labor day weekend. Now most people would probably consider a break parking themselves on the couch all weekend, or soaking in some sun on the beach (which does sound nice), but instead, we do things a little wild around here.

I packed in as much excitement as I could over my 3-day weekend. From meeting the Budweiser Clydesdales in downtown West Chester (and their cool dalmatian sidekick Barley), antique shopping, dining out, stacking hay at the farm, hiking with my pal Shilah the Husky, and soaking in the last rays of summer – I did ALL THE THINGS!

Too bad every weekend is not a 3-day weekend! And also, can you believe that my mom baked cookies and I couldn’t even have any. Seriously? We’re gonna have a talk about that later.

12 Days of Cheer! Hunting for the Perfect Tree

Part of my yearly Holiday tradition is to go shopping for the perfect Christmas tree. Only this years tree hunt was a little extra special.

I headed out to my favorite tree shopping spot, the TriColor Tree Farm and much to my surprise it had started to snow! Now if a little winter blizzard during Christmas Tree shopping doesn’t spell Christmas than I don’t know what does.

Of course before the tree hunt could begin I had to make sure the tree field was groundhog free. I just can’t help myself!

Once I cleared the field of pesky groundhogs, I wasted no time in picking out the perfect little petite tree.

Before we cut it down we had to take the obligatory “pose with the tree for posting on Facebook later” photos. It’s absolutely necessary in the Holiday Tree Hunt.

Once that was over with, it was time to cut that suckka down!

After the nice people at TriColor Tree Farm helped me wrap up my tree I was ready to bring it home for some decorating fun!

Ta-da! Isn’t is gorgeous? I decorated it all by myself too!

Ok well I might have had a little help with the angel. Curse of the short legs and all!

Happy Christmas!

The Goshen Country Fair is for Dogs

The Goshen Country Fair is exactly what you think of when you picture a country fair. Livestock, carnival rides and games, music, blueberry pie, cotton candy, and dogs!

This past weekend I got to attend the fair for some good old fashioned hometown fun!

To kick off my adventure I checked out the Pet Show hosted by the SPCA which was open to family dogs who wanted to compete in categories like cutest puppy and best costume. This year I decided not to enter, but instead observe my competition for next year!

Plus it gave me a better spot to check out all the cute ladies!

After the pet show I wandered over to the 4-H livestock tents to make some new friends. The sheep were a little sheepish though, and it seemed no one was interested in being my BFF.

The cows proved to be a little more interesting – or at least their smell was quite intriguing to me! I’m trying to convince mom that I need my own cows on the farm now.

I then took some time to check out all the fun booths and fair items, and when mom started to zero in on a booth that was offering free nail trims – I decided it would be better if we checked out the carnival games instead!

I tried my paw at some of the squirt gun games – but alas my aim wasn’t quite up to par to beat the small child sitting next to me!

Dad even tried to win me a stuffed animal at the dart game – but it seems our luck had run out on the carnival games.

So instead we picked up some Goshen Homemade Doughnuts and decided to wait for the evening’s entertainment to begin.

They had live music and even a pie eating contest to entertain me while I waited for the big act of the night to take the stage.

The Kountry K-9 Show was just up my alley, as a group of rescue trick dogs performed some pretty cool tricks on stage. I was secretly hoping they might ask me to join them!

At the end of the night I waved goodbye to the ferris wheel, and felt grateful that dogs weren’t allowed on the carnival rides because I’m perfectly happy keeping all 4 feet on the ground!

Brandywine Hills Point-to-Point

This Sunday, April 1st (weather permitting) I will be attending the Brandywine Hills Point-to-Point Races in West Chester, Pa with my pal Minnow the Painting Pony.  If you are unfamiliar with what a Point-to-Point is, it’s essentially an amateur horse racing event meant for fox hunting horses in which they race over fences.

Neither Minnow nor I have been to a Point-to-Point before, and although they do feature races where ponies are eligible (ridden by children) we won’t be there to race.

Instead we’ll be entertaining the crowds in the Children’s Activities Area from 11 – 3:30pm. So if you are in the area on Sunday make sure you stop on by my booth and visit! Gates open at 11am  and tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for children. You can check out more of the events I will be attending this year on my calendar.

P.S. I promise to jump through my hoop way better than this if you come to visit me!
