Yuengling Oktoberfest Dachshund Races Champion

Yuengling Oktoberfest Dachshund Races Champion // Ammo the Dachshund

On Sunday I celebrated my 6th Birthday, yay! And as a special adventure mom and dad decided to take me to the Yuengling Oktoberfest Dachshund Races in Bethlehem, PA.

Last year I attended the races and came up just inches short in the final race, taking home the reserve champion prize. So seeing as how it was my Birthday – I figured luck had to be on my side this time!

Before the races began I mixed and mingled (and sniffed a few butts) with the other racers. I even had fun meeting some of my fans!

But once it was time for the races to begin I put my game face on. Check out the video below to see all of my races…

That’s right, you’re looking at the 2014 Yuengling Oktoberfest Dachshund Race Champion right here! I won all 5 of my preliminary heats to make it to the final against a super fast weiner, Max!

I am so excited that I get to call myself Champion! The best part was when the crowd sang me Happy Birthday (sadly I couldn’t catch it on video).

And if you think these dachshund races look like fun, you can catch them again this upcoming weekend at the Bethlehem Steel Stacks. While I won’t be in attendance, you can still mix and mingle with lots of other lightning fast wieners!

Stay tuned, tomorrow I’ll be back to share all the Birthday goodies I received! Ammo the Dachshund

Heavy Weight

Yes, you read that right. I was in the Heavy Weight division at the Keystone Dachshund Races this year. You might not be able to tell by looking at me, but I’m a hefty 20lb “tweenie”. (and no, that does not mean I’m fat). It just means that I’m too big to be a mini dachshund and too small to be a standard dachshund, and it puts me in the weight class with the big dogs!

In my 5 Qualifying heats I earned three first places and two third places, which earned me three racing spots in the semi-finals.

In my semi-final runs I was up against some stiff competition, but in my final race I narrowly beat my fellow heavy weight competitor, earning me the coveted spot to run in the FINAL RACE!

Basically I beat out all of the heavy weights in my division, now it was time to run against the lean, mean, mini-dachshund, Dudley!

I raced my little heart out, but in the end, Dudley had a narrow edge on me – beating me to the line by a nose!

Mom and Dad were proud of me no matter what my finish. And I’m just glad I redeemed myself from my horrible racing skills from the past 2 years (in my defense I was just trying to play with all the other puppies – I’m a friendly guy!).

You can watch my previous racing escapades here and here.

And now, here’s my montage of all of my racing fun this year:

Stay tuned for more details about my big performance with my pal Trooper!

P.S. I guess this means I AM faster than a speeding bullet! huh?
