Dachshund and a Balloon

I bet you didn’t know I LOVE party balloons. Well it’s true, I thoroughly enjoy channeling my inner attack dog and going after that sucker until it pops! Just see for yourself…

Yuengling Oktoberfest Dachshund Races Champion

On Sunday I celebrated my 6th Birthday, yay! And as a special adventure mom and dad decided to take me to the Yuengling Oktoberfest Dachshund Races in Bethlehem, PA.

Last year I attended the races and came up just inches short in the final race, taking home the reserve champion prize. So seeing as how it was my Birthday – I figured luck had to be on my side this time!

Before the races began I mixed and mingled (and sniffed a few butts) with the other racers. I even had fun meeting some of my fans!

But once it was time for the races to begin I put my game face on. Check out the video below to see all of my races…

That’s right, you’re looking at the 2014 Yuengling Oktoberfest Dachshund Race Champion right here! I won all 5 of my preliminary heats to make it to the final against a super fast weiner, Max!

I am so excited that I get to call myself Champion! The best part was when the crowd sang me Happy Birthday (sadly I couldn’t catch it on video).

And if you think these dachshund races look like fun, you can catch them again this upcoming weekend at the Bethlehem Steel Stacks. While I won’t be in attendance, you can still mix and mingle with lots of other lightning fast wieners!

Stay tuned, tomorrow I’ll be back to share all the Birthday goodies I received! Ammo the Dachshund

Snowballs and winter fun

Dashing through the snow // Ammo the Dachshund

Last weekend on the farm we had some lingering snow, the kind of snow that was perfect for snowballs! Trooper and I wasted no time in having a little game out of who could catch the most.

After a few failed attempts on my part to catch said snowballs (it would probably help if I opened my eyes when trying to catch them), it was evident that Trooper was going to come out on top with this one.

What can I say, my best friend is a natural!

You know as much as we all want to complain about the winter with all the snow and the cold, there is just something magical about running through the snow, catching snowballs, and bundling up until you can hardly move!

Even our farm neighbor, Bella the Bernese Mountain Dog decided to stop by for some wintertime fun!

Unfortunately despite all my winter gear, I still lack the natural winter protection that my friend Bella is so blessed with. So I was off to the car to warm up for a bit!

Sorry Bella, our winter fun will have to wait until I thaw out some!Ammo the Dachshund

Preparing for the Dachshund Races

On Sunday I’m packing a bag and heading to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for their annual Oktoberfest! Not only do I plan to mix and mingle among fans of my german heritage, but mom and dad have also entered me into the Dachshund Races.

It’s been a number of years since I’ve put on my running shoes and raced, but the last time I did I came in as the reserve champ! So I figured it was time to lace up my sneakers again and get to training so that I have an even better chance at winning this time.

Wish me luck! Ammo the Dachshund
