How I Spent My Christmas

So I’m back from my mini holiday vacation, and I don’t know about you, but mine wasn’t far long enough!

And while I very much enjoyed “unplugging” for a bit, I just couldn’t wait to share with you all the adventures I had while I was gone. I have so much to share from hiking trips, to airplane rides, and adventures with friends, but before I get to all that, lets start off where I left off….Christmas Eve!

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

So on Christmas Eve, after I finished working a 1/2 day at the shop with mom, it was time for a little adventure.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

First stop on my adventure, was a pit-stop at the Pretzel Factory. My only gripe, they didn’t sell dog cookies.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

But not to worry, because we arrived at my local Pet Valu just in time to do a little pre-Christmas shopping.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

And guess who was doing some last minute shopping himself? That’s right, I got to whisper my Christmas list into Good Old St. Nick’s ear on Christmas Eve! And he assured me that I didn’t make the naughty list……phew!

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

And boy was he right, because when I awoke on Christmas morning there was a whole pile of goodies under the tree for me!

I’m pretty much an expert at present unwrapping, and I wasted no time diving right into my gifts!

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

The first item to reach my wrath – my December Barkbox! And just like every other month it has arrived at my doorstep, it did not disappoint!

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

And if your pup is wishing it received these goodies (plus the adorable bandana you’ll see me wearing later), don’t worry, you have until January 10th to snag your pup a Barkbox for 10% off with code AMMO5

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

Under my tree was also this super cool Himalayan dog chew with a Ruffhides wrap from the Barkshop.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

Curses that Ruffhides wrap really slowed down my chewing, to which mom said yay! and I said aw man!

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

Santa must have been peeking over my shoulder when I was in Pet Valu on Christmas Eve, because he snagged me one of these mini Benebones….my favorite!

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

My mom and dad also got me one of these nifty travel bags for my dog food from Harry Barker – I can’t wait to take it along on my next camping trip!

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

They also got me a package of my very favorite treats, these organic chicken treats from Plato.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

Santa also brought me a couple of lounge collars in my favorite color teal, so I can keep a few in all my favorite places – the farm and the shop.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

And last but not least, my friends at Chewy.com sent me these Texas Toothpicks. They are made from pure beef tail and provide both a crunchy and chewy treat that help keep teeth and gums clean. So while I’m munching away on a tasty treat – I can feel good knowing my teeth are getting sparkly clean!

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

After a fun morning at home with my family I packed up and headed out to the farm.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

I was so excited to spend Christmas day on the farm with my pal Trooper, especially because he FINALLY moved into his new house!

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

Of course I couldn’t show up to my buddy’s house empty handed, I also brought along a few goodies for him too like a Ruffhides Chew toy just for him.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

Trooper needed a little help breaking it in though, so like the best friend that I am, I offered to show him how it’s done. I’m so sweet like that.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

I also gifted my buddy this handmade pet id tag from Tag Me Pet Tags, which I had custom made with his name and the farm logo on it – on account of that he now officially lives on the farm.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

Trooper really loved it, and if you want to snag your pup one too you can use code HOLLYAMMO for 10% off your next purchase.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

The best part about spending Christmas day on the farm though, that my furry little pony friends were just right outside the door.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

It made it that much more special that I could spend time with all of my friends on Christmas day.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

Before my holiday festivities could come to an end I packed up at the farm and headed over to my MomMom & PopPop’s house for some more fun with all my cousins and Aunts & Uncles.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

I had a blast opening presents with my family.

What I did for Christmas // Ammo the Dachshund

And even took a few selfies with my cousins!

P.S. Santa if you’re reading this, I really want a pair of those spiffy storm trooper & darth vadar pajamas next year too!

Happy Holidays friends! Ammo the Dachshund

Olga’s 90th Birthday

Olga's 90th Birthday Party // Ammo the Dachshund

For the second time this year I was invited to a very special lady’s 90th Birthday Party!

Olga's 90th Birthday Party // Ammo the Dachshund

My dear friend Olga is one of my favorite customers at my shop, and without fail she always brings me a bag of cookies (and lots of sweet kisses) every time she visits.

Olga's 90th Birthday Party // Ammo the Dachshund

So I was so very excited when I was invited to Olga’s Surprise 90th Birthday Party with all of her friends and family.

Olga's 90th Birthday Party // Ammo the Dachshund

Now one thing to know about my friend Olga is that she’s one of the biggest dog (and pony) lovers there ever was. And over the years she has accumulated a lot of furry friends – including my pal Minnow who she met at one of his very first public appearances ever!

Olga's 90th Birthday Party // Ammo the Dachshund

So as you can imagine there were a lot of 4 legged attendees at Olga’s party.

Olga's 90th Birthday Party // Ammo the Dachshund

Olga even had her pony friend Rainy come to visit her!

Olga's 90th Birthday Party // Ammo the Dachshund

Now really, a birthday party with dogs AND ponies…..best birthday party ever in my book!

A very Happy Birthday to my dear friend Olga! I wish you many many more, and next year I think we should invite even more ponies to your party! Ammo the Dachshund

Post Turkey Hangover

Thanksgiving may have been last week, but that doesn’t mean I’ve recovered from it just yet! Here’s just how I celebrated this year…

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

I kicked off my Thanksgiving with a trip to the farm – and as you can see I had snow on Turkey Day!

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

As lovely as I find the snow, I was thankful that Trooper’s new house has heat – because I was looking forward to being warm!

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

Trooper spent most of the Thanksgiving morning doing this – I suspect he just didn’t want to share his new Puller toys with me….but that’s ok, I’m still thankful for my best friend – even if he doesn’t like to share!

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

Eventually Trooper stepped away from his Puller hoarding to share some Canidae cookies with me, YUM!

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

And I had an obligatory Thanksgiving potty break. 🙂

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

Now even though we didn’t have a Thanksgiving meal at Trooper’s new house (as there is still lots of construction to be done), that didn’t stop me from hanging around in the kitchen.

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

Because regardless of wether there is food or not, the kitchen is where you’re supposed to be on Thanksgiving day!

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

Before I knew it though it was time to wave goodbye to my ponies and head off on my next Thanksgiving adventure.

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

At Mom Mom & Pop Pop’s house I started where I had left off at the farm….hanging around the kitchen.

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

Only this time there was an actual turkey!

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

Thanksgiving should be renamed “Torture Dogs with a Big Plate of Meat Day”, because it is TORTURE!

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

And even though I didn’t get to have more than a bite or two of turkey, I did get to enjoy my own feast complete with doggie stew that came with my Barkbox this month!

Post Turkey Hangover // Thanksgiving // Ammo the Dachshund

It comes at no surprise that my post turkey day self looked like this. But boy was it a good day with my family! Ammo the Dachshund

P.S. Don’t forget there is still time to order one of my Adventure Awaits T-shirts for Christmas and to benefit the Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue! Hurry before it’s too late!

Horse Show Helper

Iron Horse Farm Show Helper // Ammo the Dachshund

Over the weekend we held the last of our series of horse events at the farm for the season. I’m always the bestest of helpers, see there’s me guarding the arena equipment before the show starts!

Iron Horse Farm Show Helper // Ammo the Dachshund

I take on many duties when event day arrives – here’s me and Trooper helping to set up the food booth.

Iron Horse Farm Show Helper // Ammo the Dachshund

I also help to direct people to the Secretary table – where they need to sign up for the event.

But my number one job on event day is always the meet and greet committee. I’ve had lots of practice with this being a shop dog!

Throwback Thursday: Halloween Past

With Halloween just around the corner I thought it would be fun to take a look back at my VERY FIRST Halloween with my family!

Trooper dressed up as a Pony (complete with western rider and saddle on his back) and I dressed up as a cute little Dinosaur.

Throwback Thursday: Halloween Past // Ammo the Dachshund

Mom said it would of been more appropriate if I had dressed as a T-Rex (on account of my short stubby arms)…..I’m laughing real hard mom, real hard!

Throwback Thursday: Halloween Past // Ammo the Dachshund

Apparently I missed the memo that Dinosaurs are supposed to be bigger and badder that ponies though, because Trooper seemed to keep trying to get a taste of Dinosaur meat.

You can check out some more photos from my very first Halloween with Trooper on the Painting Pony Blog.

Fair Hill International 2014

Just like last year, I attended the Fairhill International event to watch one of the most prestigious international three day horse events in the world this past weekend.

Ammo the Dachshund visits Fairhill International

This time I was a seasoned pro on the school bus ride over to the grounds. I made sure to assure all the other dogs on the bus that we weren’t in fact headed for school (because who goes to school on a Sunday?).

Ammo the Dachshund visits Fairhill International

My first stop on the grounds…..lunch! And with lots of choices to choose from I begged mom to get the steak sandwich wrap….mmmm…..steak.

Ammo the Dachshund visits Fairhill International

Next I hit up the shopping tents – in which all the venders commented on how I was the best dressed dog there! (I do try my best)

Ammo the Dachshund visits Fairhill International

Then it was time for the main event….Show Jumping! I spent the afternoon watching as Jennie Brannigan and her horse, Cambalda, took home the Gold!

By the end of the day I was exhausted from “riding every stride” with the competitors as I cheered them on!

Good news is I have an entire year to rest up for next year’s event! Ammo the Dachshund

Fall is in the Air

It’s that time of year when the sun sets earlier, the leaves change a pretty color, and you have to bundle up a little more on the farm! Here’s a fun little collection of photos from my recent fall fun around the farm.

My Canine Kids Perfect Fit Dog Harness & Fleece Review & Giveaway

Disclaimer : This is a sponsored post and giveaway brought to you by My Canine Kids.

My Canine Kids Harness & Fleece Jacket Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

I’m always super excited when I get to test out clothing, since being a dachshund means that your body type is not the norm – and it can be quite difficult to find harnesses, jackets, sweaters and coats that accommodate my long body but short legs. Needless to say, I’m quite excited to share with you the Precision Fit Harness and a Precision Fit Sport Fleece from my pals at My Canine Kids.

My Canine Kids Harness & Fleece Jacket Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Since summer has officially decided to head on out of Eastern Pennsylvania, I have found myself in need of a jacket on the farm for my early morning farm chores.

My Canine Kids Harness & Fleece Jacket Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

The Precision Fit Line from My Canine Kids is quite unique in that it is designed to be fully adjustable. As in your clothes and harnesses can grow with you should you perhaps pack on a few extra pounds (not that I condone that) or are a puppy going through a growth spurt, or perhaps you just have an odd dachshund shaped body that can be hard to fit.

The front of the Fleece velcros in two points so that you can easily make it snugger or looser.

And the belly strap has an extra long piece of velcro to fit lots of different sized bellies. And the My Canine Kids line isn’t just for small dogs, they make their products in a variety of sizes to fit big and small dogs and every body type in between.

My Canine Kids Harness & Fleece Jacket Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

The Precision Fit Sport Fleece even comes with an handy hole to attach a leash through, although I do wish it was a bit further back so it could reach my harness.

My Canine Kids Harness & Fleece Jacket Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

I also got to test out the Precision Fit Step in Harness in blue.

My Canine Kids Harness & Fleece Jacket Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Mom says it totally makes me look like a body builder! Hey, I’ll take that!

Some key features about the Precision Fit Harness:

  • Harness sizing has 5 sizes covering dogs from 4 – 50 lbs
  • Military quality velcro for strength
  • Double dring leash closure
  • Mesh harness has reflective trim for night visibility
  • Core nylon harness is made in NYC

And because the top and sides are fully adjustable, it can make fitting your growing puppy or hard to fit dog a snap! I typically prefer harnesses that don’t go between my front legs, but I did notice that My Canine Kids also makes an adjustable vest style harness that is most similar to the kind I prefer to wear.

You can check out more styles and designs in adjustable clothing for your pets at My Canine Kids. And find out where to purchase their gear!

And now for the best part…..
