A Dog Toy that Helps Women & Children in Ethiopia + A Giveaway

As dogs there are only a few things Trooper and I think about on a daily basis: Eat, Sleep, Play. Repeat. But what if I told you by doing one of those things there is a way you could help others? Pretty cool, right?

A Dog Toy that Helps Women & Children in Ethiopia + A Giveaway

See my friends over at WO Design have come out with an interactive chew toy (the WO Bone) and a flying disc/tug toy (the WO Disc) that help provide meals for widows & orphans in Ethiopia with every purchase. As of the fall of 2016, WO Design has successfully provided over 13,000 meals for widows & orphans in Ethiopia and has plans for providing aid in other parts of the world (with your help) as well.

A Dog Toy that Helps Women & Children in Ethiopia + A Giveaway

With each WO product you purchase it directly funds meals for widows and orphans globally. WO Design has partnered with an organization in Ethiopia called Bring Love In (BLI) to help feed orphans and widows in their organization, and these meals often represent the highest amount of nutrition that these folks get in any given day.

Now while I love a company that’s mission is to help others, we have to address the important stuff in this review too….like the toys!

Trooper and I got to test out the WO Disc and the WO Bone.

A Dog Toy that Helps Women & Children in Ethiopia + A Giveaway

Both toys are made from a soft and durable WO pet material that is BPA-free, phthalate-free, non-toxic and FDA compliant.

And while no dog toy is completely indestructible, these WO toys certain lasted up to Trooper and mine’s rigorous testing.

We even took laps around the house with the WO Bone just to be sure.

And guess what! These made in the USA dog toys are even recyclable! How cool is that! But Trooper and I don’t plan on recycling ours anytime soon, because we are having much too much fun playing with them.

New Vegetable Garden

Ammo the Dachshund's Vegetable Garden

Every year I like to plant a vegetable garden. After last year’s winter my usual veggie spot was looking a bit sad. Nothing a little gardening re-model couldn’t fix though!

Ammo the Dachshund's Vegetable Garden

My handy Dad got to work right away with a new plan so mom and I don’t have to pull weeds anymore…woohoo! Mom of course had to sit this one out, since apparently heavy lifting is frowned upon when you’re growing a baby.

Ammo the Dachshund's Vegetable Garden

Eventually (thanks to dad’s hard work) my new garden boxes started to take shape and it was time to get the dirt! (my favorite part)

Ammo the Dachshund's Vegetable Garden

I tagged along to help mom and dad pick up garden soil so my plants could grow big and strong.

Ammo the Dachshund's Vegetable Garden

While dad shoveled all the dirt into the garden boxes I stood guard to make sure no critters got in the way of our hard work. It’s pretty much a full time job.

Ammo the Dachshund's Vegetable Garden

The soil went in and I could hardly wait to get my plants into the ground. I’ve been saving bits of kibble all year to plant my kibble tree!

Ammo the Dachshund's Vegetable Garden

With soil in the boxes the garden was looking mostly finished….now it was time to plant!

Ammo the Dachshund's Vegetable Garden

After mom picked up some plant starts at the store I helped put everything into the boxes. Now all we have to do is wait for them to grow big and strong, and keep the critters from eating them! Don’t worry though, I know just the dog for the job!

Helping Animal Rescues with #TractorSupply

This post is sponsored by Tractor Supply Company and the BlogPaws Professional Pet Blogger Network. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about Tractor Supply Company but AmmotheDachshund.com only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. The holidays are upon us, and it’s this time of year that I especially like to remember those that are less fortunate. Which is why I was so excited to partner with my friends at Tractor Supply Company® for a special project involving my local SPCA.

Tractor SupplyTractor Supply is a huge supporter of animals rescues. Not only do they host a social media contest every year that awards $25,000 in grants to 10 deserving organizations, but on a local level they make their stores available to rescue groups to host adoption events and fundraisers. And they even provide low-cost, walk-in clinics through PetVet Clinics.

So when Tractor Supply gave me the opportunity to go shopping for my local animal rescue at their store I could hardly wait!

Ammo the Dachshund Donates to Charity with #TractorSupply

The best part is that all TSC stores are pet friendly! So you can bring your llama, your guinea pig, your pony, and your dog shopping with you! Next time I’m bringing Minnow the pony with me.

Ammo the Dachshund Donates to Charity with #TractorSupply

Armed with the wish list of the Chester County SPCA (my local rescue) I roamed the isles adding everything they needed to make this the best holiday ever to some special dogs and cats.

Ammo the Dachshund Donates to Charity with #TractorSupply

Tractor Supply not only has lots of farm related goodies (which is where I shop for lots of my ponies needs), but they also have everything you would need for the health and well-being of your dog or cat. From flea preventatives to supplements and toys to training devices.

Ammo the Dachshund Donates to Charity with #TractorSupply

Because I wanted to stretch my dollar as far as I could for all the deserving pets at the SPCA I was on the lookout for products that would be great for the animals, but also cost effective too.

Ammo the Dachshund Donates to Charity with #TractorSupply

I was sure to snag some of the 4Health™ Dog Food Brand, an affordable, premium-quality cat and dog food, exclusively made for Tractor Supply in the USA with high-quality and grain free formulas available. My friends at the SPCA are going to love it!

Ammo the Dachshund Donates to Charity with #TractorSupply

I also snatched up some canned pet food from the 4Health Tractor Supply dog food line and some of these tasty looking treats from DogforDog®.

DogforDog is especially great, because with every purchase of their products they donate to animal rescues. So by grabbing some of their soft treats to gift to my local rescue, I was also helping to donate funds to another shelter in need.

Ammo the Dachshund Donates to Charity with #TractorSupply

So with my cart finally full I was ready to make my way to the checkout (where the cashiers always have a cookie waiting for visiting pets!).

I can’t wait to take all these fun goodies from Tractor Supply Company to the SPCA this weekend! It makes my heart happy to help some of the less fortunate dogs and cats out there this holiday season.

I highly recommend swinging by your neighborhood TSC store the next time you need something for your furry friend.

Bartley’s for Dogs Review & Giveaway

Disclaimer: This product review & giveaway is sponsored by Bartley’s for Dogs.

My new friends at Bartley’s for Dogs recently sent me a fun package of goodies from their online shop.

Bartley's for Dogs Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

With a shop full of fun treats and toys there is something for every pup! My package included a Crinkit Water Bottle Toy, West Paw Hurley Bone, Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff Strawberry, and a Bully Stick!

Now you’ll notice from here on out there aren’t any photos of me with my Bully Stick….and the reason is I was so excited to chew it that mom didn’t even get a chance to take a photo of me with it before I snatched it away to have a chew. At least not one that wasn’t blurry! What can I say, I love a good bully stick!

Bartley's for Dogs Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

Now before I get to my other fun treats I wanted to tell you about how Bartley’s isn’t your average online pet boutique. They have a special way of sharing their purpose – which is to help rescue dogs.

Bartley's for Dogs Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

With each order you will receive a tag like this with a cute picture of Bartley on the front, who by the way is half-dachshund!

Bartley's for Dogs Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

On the back of each tag is a unique number that can be used on their website to find out exactly what rescue dog you have helped to save!

Bartley's for Dogs Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

After inputting the number you will see some cute photos and a story about the rescue pup (and the rescue they belong to) and how you have helped to save them. What a special way to help the animals in need!

Bartley's for Dogs Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

One of my favorite toys that came from Bartley’s was the Crinkit Water Bottle Toy. This toy is unique in that you can fill it with an empty plastic water bottle so your dog can crinkle and crunch it without the fear of them breaking off pieces of the bottle.

Bartley's for Dogs Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

I’ve been having a blast crunching my new toy, especially when my mom and dad sit down to watch tv. *wink*

In fact all my toys from Bartley’s have been keeping me company these days, mom even spotted me napping with all three of them just the other day.

If you want to get your dog some new toy friends (or even some yummy treats) from Bartley’s (and help a dog in need too) you can use code AMMO2014 for $5 off any order over $20.

And now for your own chance win some fun items from Bartley’s…..

Events at the Farm

Events on the Farm // Ammo the Dachshund

Most of you who read my blog on a regular basis (hey guys) already know that I’ve been a farm dog since I was just a wee pup. Growing up on a farm means that you learn pretty quickly that everyone must pitch in and help to keep the farm running. So when we host horse events on the farm I’m the first one to lend a helping paw.

Events on the Farm // Ammo the Dachshund

At our farm we host slightly different competitions than most people might be used to seeing. You’ll see no pretty ponies prancing around the arena while their owners buff and shine their boots to perfection – nope, we get a little more extreme with our events at my farm. Our mounted games competitions are filled with thrills and spills, as riders race at top speed through a series of obstacles with their teammates. It’s as exciting for the riders as it is for us spectators.

I spent most of my day on the start line, helping dad to watch the finishes and call placings – one of the most important jobs of the day.

Riders of all ages came out for our event, and their team gear was as fantastic as always (you know I love a good fashion statement).

My best friend Trooper was in charge of watching for rule violations on line A.

Events on the Farm // Ammo the Dachshund

But he quickly got relieved of all duties when he couldn’t keep his eyes open!

Events on the Farm // Ammo the Dachshund

Even my ponies helped out during the event, as they greeted all our guests with a beaming smile.

Events on the Farm // Ammo the Dachshund

Later in the day I took my post on the obstacle course as I watched the riders compete for the jackpot cash prize!

Events on the Farm // Ammo the Dachshund

I even had to do a bit of coaching as some of the ponies thought our pool noodle obstacle was something from another planet.

By the end of the day I was utterly exhausted – but that’s how life goes on the farm, and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Ammo the Dachshund

Rescue Animals and Blanket ID

Last week I wrote about my saying (“My Hero”) that I had submitted to the Blanket ID “Significant Others” Tag Contest, and I asked you (my fans) to help my tag win by voting so that I could choose a lucky animal rescue to donate money from the sale of my tags to.

Well thanks to all of you I placed second! Which means in a few short weeks my tag will be available for purchase from Blanket ID!

Blanket ID Winners // Ammo the Dachshund

As exciting as this is, I’m even more excited to announce that the rescue I have chosen to receive $3 from every sale of my tag is the Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue!

Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue (CCDR) is a National Non-Profit 501(c)(3), all-volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing needy Dachshunds and Dachshund mixes from coast to coast.

Just look at some of these cuties they have available for adoption:

To see all of their available dogs visit the Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue.

Ammo the Dachshund // Backyard Super Hero

So if you’d like to be a hero just like me, then you might consider making a purchase of my Blanket ID tag once it is available (I’ll be sure to let you know). And you can also come visit me on April 21st at the Spring Doxie Fest to benefit the Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue. More details HERE.

Slap on your cape, and grab a helmet, because there are always heroes welcome in my club! Ammo the Dachshund

My Trip to the SPCA

In keeping with my goals for the 13 Project I have been collecting unwanted towels and blankets for the past few months. So this past weekend I decided I finally had a big box filled enough to make a trip to my local SPCA.

Ammo the Dachshund // Lending a Helping Paw // My trip to the SPCA

Ammo the Dachshund // Lending a Helping Paw // My trip to the SPCA

I was excited to lend a helping paw and put my old towels to good use by giving them to animals that could use them more than me. I knew they would love them because I personally tested each and every one for optimal softness.

Ammo the Dachshund // Lending a Helping Paw // My trip to the SPCA

So we loaded up the car and headed to the Chester County SPCA. I had to wait in the car while Mom and Dad took my donation inside, but when they returned they shared with me some of the pets that were looking forever homes at the SPCA.

Ammo the Dachshund // Lending a Helping Paw // My trip to the SPCA

Duke is a super lovable family dog who is 4 years old. He loves all people and kids and is already housebroken. If you want someone to play fetch with, then this is the boy for you!

This sweet girl Ginger, a terrier mix, was Mom and Dad’s favorite. She had the cutest little face and silly little ears that stood straight up. She is about 1-3 years old and was found as a stray.

To see more adoptable pets at the Chester County SPCA, CLICK HERE.

Mom said she wished we could have brought all of the puppies looking for families home with us, but since that’s just not possible for us we hope that by donating towels and blankets we can do our part to help in some way. Even if it’s just a small thing.

So who else is with me in helping the shelters? There is always something you can do to help; adopt a dog, donate old blankets & towels, share adoptable pets with your friends and family – I know you can do it! We can all be heroes for the animals just looking for a little love. Ammo the Dachshund
