New in the Shop! Ammo the Dachshund’s 2016 Calendar

I’m so excited to share with you my latest project for my online shop, Flying Hero!

New in the Shop! Ammo the Dachshund's 2016 Calendar to benefit the SPCA

Due to your feedback, I’ve created my brand new 2016 Calendar in a new size and all new images!

New in the Shop! Ammo the Dachshund's 2016 Calendar to benefit the SPCA

Even though in today’s World everyone has calendars and organizers on their phones, it’s still nice to have a happy little calendar to hang on your wall.
And there’s nothing happier than looking at my face every single day!

New in the Shop! Ammo the Dachshund's 2016 Calendar to benefit the SPCA

My 2016 Calendar measures 6″ w x 12″ h and comes punched with a hole for easy hanging on your wall or cork board. (each photo of the calendar measures 6″ x 6″).

The very best part though? I will be DONATING $5 from every sale to the Chester County SPCA. Yay for helping animal rescues!

Each month features a different photograph of me and all photos are printed professionally on archival quality paper. At the end of the year/month the photos would be great for framing and hanging on your wall. (you know if you can’t get enough of me!)

Currently I’m taking pre-orders, and they will begin shipping just after Thanksgiving – with plenty of time for Holiday Gifts!

You can snag one of my 2016 Calendars from my online shop, but hurry, there are limited quantities of these and once they sell out I won’t have any more! Ammo the Dachshund // Blog Signature // Celebrity

Adventures at the Ryerss Farm Family Fun Day

Over the weekend my pal Minnow the Painting Pony and I attended the Ryerss Farm Family Fun Day.

Painting Pony & Ammo the Dachshund at Ryerss

The Ryerss Farm is a non-profit that cares for aged, and abused or injured horses by providing a home where they can spend their golden years out to pasture.  The horses at Ryerss are never worked, go to auction or are used for experiments.  They simply spend their days grazing and enjoying life with their friends on the farm.

Painting Pony Paints for Charity

My pal Minnow (who is an aged equine himself at 21 years young) was thrilled to be able to show off some of his painting talents for this organization.

Painting Pony Paints for Charity

Minnow drew quite a crowd when it came time for him to paint and show off a few of his tricks. Check out the video of Minnow painting at Ryerss on instagram.

Trick Dachshund Performs for Charity

I couldn’t let Minnow one-up me with his crowd, so every time I performed I tried to draw an even bigger crowd than him.

Dachshund Plays Dead at Ryerss

I pulled out all the stops by jumping through hoops and even showing off my most popular trick, playing dead!

I even dove through a solid hoop while wearing my stunt helmet! I think Minnow was impressed (don’t let his look of boredom fool you).

Sleeping Super Hero at Ryerss

Eventually all that performing caught up to me – and this little super hero had to squeeze in some afternoon naps between shows.

Don’t worry though, my mom has a secret arsenal of Full Moon Real Bacon Treats* in her pocket (that we received from BlogPaws), that were just what I needed for revival before my next show.

I’m never one to disappoint my crowd!

Even though my crowd might have been just a wee bit bigger than Minnow’s, we were both thrilled to be supporting this good cause….and generating a few smiles along the way!Ammo the Dachshund // Blog Signature // Celebrity

Blanket ID Adopt a Tag Collection – Helping Rescue Groups

Blanket ID Significant Others Collection // Ammo the Dachshund

You might remember that a few months ago, thanks to all of your wonderful votes, my phrase “My Hero” was selected to be turned into a tag in the Blanket Id Adopt a Tag Collection.

This new collection has been especially designed with breed rescues in mind and is available in the blanket id store! Each tag will directly benefit a Rescue – either each winner’s chosen charity (I chose to support the Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue) or you can select your own. You’ll find information about all the chosen winners here.

I was so excited when my new Blanket Id tag arrived in the mail!

Since the idea behind this tag collection is showing you care, I decided that I would gift my new Blanket Id tag to my best friend Trooper – so that he can be protected by the Blanket Id services too!

If you can’t tell, Trooper is very excited to be “My Hero” and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be helping one of our favorite rescues, The Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue.

Painting for a Cause

Ammo the Dachshund Artist

Lately I’ve been busy painting up a storm, readying myself for the Spring Doxie Fest, an event to benefit the dogs that I’ve been asked to attend and perform at.

Ammo the Dachshund Artist

These magical paws of mine will be painting for a cause on Sunday, April 21st in Bel Air, Maryland for their annual fundraising event.

If you are in the area I hope you’ll stop by and meet me! The event will be held from 11 – 3pm, with lots of fun contests for your dogs, as well as venders and entertainment for all! Find out more HERE.

Here’s a video from back when I first learned to paint:

My artwork and lots of doxie merchandise will be available for purchase at the event. I donate a percentage of all my sales to animal rescue groups.

Giving Back and Blanket ID Tags

Ammo the Dachshund - Super Hero - On the Moon

Super Heroes do more than just look great in capes, they also help their community! I am proud to be a supporter of animal rescues and helping shelter animals in need.

A few months ago I created a new page on my blog all about giving back. You can check it out HERE.

Giving Back // Lending a Helping Paw // Ammo the Dachshund

I love to do everything I can to help animals in need, so when an opportunity popped up to help a rescue of my choice, I jumped at the chance.

Blanket ID (makers of those fun id tags that keep your pets safe) recently launched a contest looking for cute sayings for their new id tags in their “Significant Others” collection. The winning saying will make it onto a Blanket ID tag in which $3 from every sale will go to the winner’s favorite animal rescue.

Giving Back // Lending a Helping Paw - Blanket ID // Ammo the Dachshund

My tag submission, “My Hero”, recently made it to the top 10 finalists and is now in the running to be chosen!

Now I need your help to get my tag to the top!

You can vote for my tag (#4, My Hero) by just leaving a comment with the number 4 on the Blanket ID blog, on their Facebook page or emailing it to cate@blanketID.com, share it if you like as much as you can and help me and my chosen rescue. Voting ends Today, Monday 4th March at midnight. Click HERE to VOTE.

Regardless of whether or not my design wins (although it would be fun to win), animals in need will get a helping paw! And that’s the most important part! Ammo the Dachshund

My Trip to the SPCA

In keeping with my goals for the 13 Project I have been collecting unwanted towels and blankets for the past few months. So this past weekend I decided I finally had a big box filled enough to make a trip to my local SPCA.

Ammo the Dachshund // Lending a Helping Paw // My trip to the SPCA

I was excited to lend a helping paw and put my old towels to good use by giving them to animals that could use them more than me. I knew they would love them because I personally tested each and every one for optimal softness.

So we loaded up the car and headed to the Chester County SPCA. I had to wait in the car while Mom and Dad took my donation inside, but when they returned they shared with me some of the pets that were looking forever homes at the SPCA.

Duke is a super lovable family dog who is 4 years old. He loves all people and kids and is already housebroken. If you want someone to play fetch with, then this is the boy for you!

This sweet girl Ginger, a terrier mix, was Mom and Dad’s favorite. She had the cutest little face and silly little ears that stood straight up. She is about 1-3 years old and was found as a stray.

Mom said she wished we could have brought all of the puppies looking for families home with us, but since that’s just not possible for us we hope that by donating towels and blankets we can do our part to help in some way. Even if it’s just a small thing.

So who else is with me in helping the shelters? There is always something you can do to help; adopt a dog, donate old blankets & towels, share adoptable pets with your friends and family – I know you can do it! We can all be heroes for the animals just looking for a little love. Ammo the Dachshund

2012 Petties Award Show

You might remember that this year I had the honor of being chosen as a finalist in the 2012 Petties Awards for the best designed blog.

2012 Petties Awards // Ammo the Dachshund

I was surprised and excited to be chosen as one of the top four finalist, and was on the edge of my seat to watch the award show which was broadcast on the Dogtime Blog on Friday.

Sadly I did not win, but in the Petties everyone is a winner, because the winners in each category get to choose an animal rescue or charity to donate their $1,000 prize to. Isn’t that fantastic!

petties-2012-finalist-design-badgeSo I send my congratulations out to all of the winners this year, and hopefully next year I’ll get a chance to be in the running for a Petties Award again!

Spreading the Love

Since it’s now officially 2011, that means it’s time for me to make my donation to my special charity of choice! For me that would be the Main Line Animal Rescue this year.

Over the past 8 months (since I first dove into the World of Art), I’ve been slowly setting aside some money to make my donation. And since my friends like to help out with a good cause too, The Painting Ponies helped make my donation even bigger this year. Thanks Minnow, Blitz & Boomer!

The MLAR mission statement:

Main Line Animal Rescue specializes in the rescue and placement of abused, unwanted and abandoned companion animals. We never discriminate on the basis of health, age or breed. By involving and educating the community, Main Line Animal Rescue works to raise the public’s awareness of the plight of homeless animals as well as realizing the benefits of adopting an animal in need. Our animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive any and all medical treatment before they are placed in carefully screened homes.

I also decided to share with you some very special friends that are currently up for adoption at MLAR.

Meet Belinda, a 7 year old black and tan female Doxie. Looking for someone to love her!

This is Betty, an 8 year old black and tan female long hair Doxie.

Pretzel is an 11 year old black Dachshund looking for a nice family to call his  own.

I am totally potty trained, love to go for short walks and am content to just sit next to my owner or lay by the windows where the sun comes in. I am a little timid so would do best with a quiet home. I am very sweet and will get so excited when you walk in the door. I run around in circles and hop around wagging my tail. I am presently being fostered by a family with two other dogs, but to be honest I’m not that interested in either of them. I am much more interested in people. Please come and meet me and see for yourself how adorable I am.

Rodney is a 7 year old red Dachshund looking for someone to love him!

There are lots more LOVELY dogs available for adoption at MLAR (not just doxies) – I just have a soft spot in my heart for my short and long brothers from another mother. So if you’re looking to bring someone into your home to love FOREVER AND EVER, be sure to check out MLAR – or any other local rescue in your area…..every dog deserves a home and someone to love them!

I send all my love to all the animals out there looking for their forever homes. Hugs and Kisses, your pal Ammo.
