Dog Clicker App Review & Giveaway

Disclaimer: This review and giveaway is brought to you by Smart Dog Clicker.

Since it’s Birthday week here on the blog I’ve packed in as many fun giveaways and goodies as I could for all of my faithful readers!

Smart Dog Clicker App Review & Giveaway // Ammo the Dachshund

I recently got the chance to test out the Smart Dog Clicker App for iPhone. Most of you probably already know that I’m an avid fan of clicker training and my mom has been using this training method since day 1 with me.

Now if you’re unfamiliar with clicker training you can brush up on the basics, but essentially the Smart Dog Clicker App puts a “clicker” conveniently in your hands without the need to carry around one in your pocket.

For people and dogs who prefer the mechanical sound of a clicker when training this is useful, for me personally mom usually uses a click of her tongue – making it not totally necessary for her to carry one around for training on the fly.

With the Smart Dog Clicker App you’ll still need to provide your own treats for any training sessions with your dog, but at least you won’t have to carry around a bulky clicker.

The elite version of the app also comes with tips for teaching your dog 32 different tricks.

Some of the tricks are pretty basic, like sit and and stay.

But there are a few more complex tricks like playing dead, bow, and yawn. Full disclosure though, I did wish the steps were a bit more detailed and perhaps in a step by step guide.

As you can see I’m already an expert at playing dead, but there are a few on the list I might have to try.

The Smart Dog Clicker is available from the iTunes App store for iPhone in a free version (which includes ads and a limited list of tricks) and an elite version for $1.99 which includes no ads and the full list of tricks.

And now for the best part….

Adventures at Ludwigs

Adventures at Ludwigs // Ammo the Dachshund

Over the Labor Day Weekend me and my best pony pal Minnow, the Painting Pony, attended the Ludwigs Corner Horse Show.

Adventures at Ludwigs // Ammo the Dachshund

Our goal, to make as many people smile as we could!

Adventures at Ludwigs // Ammo the Dachshund

My pal Minnow is pretty good at helping us draw a crowd, I mean just look at his super model pose!

Adventures at Ludwigs // Ammo the Dachshund

And when he starts to paint everyone can’t help but to be captivated!

Adventures at Ludwigs // Ammo the Dachshund

Myself included, as I love watching Minnow create his special works of art.

Adventures at Ludwigs // Ammo the Dachshund

Minnow painted several works of art throughout the day which should be available on his website very soon.

Finally it was my turn to perform, and I showed off some of my expert hoop jumping skills.

Adventures at Ludwigs // Ammo the Dachshund

I even made it through the flaming hoop of death…..unharmed!

I also shared a few of my circus stunts like rolling my barrel….

….and playing dead!

Adventures at Ludwigs // Ammo the Dachshund

And for my final heroic stunt, I dove head first though a solid hoop (don’t worry, I wore my helmet for safety!)

Adventures at Ludwigs // Ammo the Dachshund

After our first performance of the day a nasty thunderstorm rolled through. Minnow went to wait out the storm on the horse trailer while I hunkered down in our tent.

Adventures at Ludwigs // Ammo the Dachshund

Eventually the sun came back out for just long enough for Minnow to create a few more paintings, even if the crowds had died down pretty drastically!

By the end of the day I was pretty beat! But I’m pretty sure Minnow and I accomplished our goal to make everyone smile! Ammo the Dachshund

Whenever it’s time to work on training the ponies I’m never too far as I love offering encouraging words to my ponies as they learn new skills and tricks.

Watch This // Training Horses Through Mimicking // Ammo the Dachshund

My buddy Boomerang here is learning how to be more comfortable on a teeter totter.

Watch This // Training Horses Through Mimicking // Ammo the Dachshund

Sometimes though, the ponies learn best by watching someone else do it first. So I offer up my skills, and tell Boomerang to watch this as I plod effortlessly across the teeter totter. In theory, watching someone else do it helps my ponies to realize it’s not as scary as it seems.

Although it would also help if Boomerang was actually paying attention instead of sneaking grass behind me! Sigh. Ammo the Dachshund

New York or Bust

New York of Bust // Ammo the Dachshund

Over the 4th of July weekend I packed up my ponies and headed north 5 hours to New York!

After so many pit-stops I was fully expecting to end up in the big apple, but instead I ended up in the middle of nowhere at a horse campground!

New York of Bust // Ammo the Dachshund

I unpacked my ponies and tucked them in for the night….

New York of Bust // Ammo the Dachshund

…and pitched my tent for yet another fun weekend of camping!

New York of Bust // Ammo the Dachshund

I may or may not have hogged all the sleeping bags in the night. At least I was comfy!

New York of Bust // Ammo the Dachshund

When I awoke the next morning it became apparent that my ponies had made the long journey to New York to compete on a dog agility course! (at least that’s what it looked like to me)

New York of Bust // Ammo the Dachshund

It had a teeter totter….

New York of Bust // Ammo the Dachshund

…and some sort of porcupine looking things…

New York of Bust // Ammo the Dachshund

…and chickens? Ok well maybe it was the advanced dog agility course, which would explain why I’ve never seen any of these obstacles at my training classes.

Regardless my ponies were super brave and attempted each and every one of these challenging obstacles over the weekend!

New York of Bust // Ammo the Dachshund

I had a relaxing weekend watching them perform from the comfort of my favorite seat in the car. I even had my portable fan going to keep me cool.

New York of Bust // Ammo the Dachshund

I even got to pack in some tanning during my weekend in New York. And before I knew it we were on the road again headed back home to Pennsylvania.

New York of Bust // Ammo the Dachshund

And the good news is, we only got one flat tire on the way home! (not to worry, I’m an expert at changing tires).

What sort of adventures did your dog have over the 4th of July weekend? Ammo the Dachshund

Hide n’ Seek with your Dog

Disclaimer : This is a sponsored post brought to you by Chewy.

Sometimes on rainy days or days where I have to spend a little extra time indoors mom likes to play a fun game with me.

Hide n’ Seek is quickly becoming one of my favorite games, and I’m getting quite good at it (even when blindfolded!). Keep reading to find out how you can play this game with your dog!

Hide n' Seek with your Dog // Nature's Prairie All Natural Oven-Baked Biscuits // Chewy.com // Ammo the Dachshund

To start you need some yummy treats. I decided to use this package of Nature’s Variety Prairie All Natural Oven-Baked Biscuits from my friends over at Chewy.com.

Hide n' Seek with your Dog // Nature's Prairie All Natural Oven-Baked Biscuits // Chewy.com // Ammo the Dachshund

These peanut butter and banana cookies contain no corn, wheat, soy, artificial preservatives, colors or flavors and are made right here in the USA!

So to get my game of Hide n’ Seek started mom asks me to sit and wait (sometimes in the same room, other times in another room so I can’t see), and then she hides my cookies all around the room.

Once their hidden she releases me to find them!

See why this game is so fun!

Throwback Thursday: Training Day

Ammo the Dachshund // Let's Get Tricky // Teach Your Dog to High-Five

To become as skilled as I have in performing and learning tricks there is also a lot of behind the scenes training that goes on. Since I was just 8 weeks old mom has been helping me learn cues and tricks. Consistency is key, and also having a pocket full of treats!

Check out my Throwback Thursday video of one of my short training sessions at the farm in 2010:

Painting with famous Ponies

Painting Pony // Ammo the Dachshund

This is my very special pony friend, Minnow. You’ve probably already met him before, but incase you didn’t know, Minnow is a world-famous artist! His paintings have sold all over the world and help to raise money for animal rescue groups.

Over the weekend I got to hang with my pony friend and watch him create some of his masterpieces.

Painting Pony // Ammo the Dachshund

But famous artists can’t do it alone, there’s always a clean-up crew hiding behind the scenes.

Painting Pony // Ammo the Dachshund

It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it!

Painting Pony // Ammo the Dachshund

Of course even assistants sometimes get a painted nose or two!

It’s all part of the job description. Ammo the Dachshund
