Ammo the Dachshund - Super Hero - On the Moon

Super Heroes do more than just look great in capes, they also help their community! I am proud to be a supporter of animal rescues and helping shelter animals in need.

A few months ago I created a new page on my blog all about giving back. You can check it out HERE.

Giving Back // Lending a Helping Paw // Ammo the Dachshund

I love to do everything I can to help animals in need, so when an opportunity popped up to help a rescue of my choice, I jumped at the chance.

Blanket ID (makers of those fun id tags that keep your pets safe) recently launched a contest looking for cute sayings for their new id tags in their “Significant Others” collection. The winning saying will make it onto a Blanket ID tag in which $3 from every sale will go to the winner’s favorite animal rescue.

My tag submission, “My Hero”, recently made it to the top 10 finalists and is now in the running to be chosen!

Now I need your help to get my tag to the top!

You can vote for my tag (#4, My Hero) by just leaving a comment with the number 4 on the Blanket ID blog, on their Facebook page or emailing it to cate@blanketID.com, share it if you like as much as you can and help me and my chosen rescue. Voting ends Today, Monday 4th March at midnight. Click HERE to VOTE.

Regardless of whether or not my design wins (although it would be fun to win), animals in need will get a helping paw! And that’s the most important part! Ammo the Dachshund

The Harlem Shake with Ammo the Dachshund

The latest meme floating around right now is The Harlem Shake, a song that has sparked a series of dance videos to an instrumental song produced by the artist Baauer. And since I’m never one to miss out on a meme, I decided to do my own rendition.

I bet you are mad impressed with my dance skills right!? I’ve been practicing if you can’t tell.

Anyone else do their own rendition of the Harlem Shake? Let’s see it! Post your favorite ones in the comment section! Ammo the Dachshund

My Crazy Rebels Custom Pet Painting

Right before Christmas my mom entered a giveaway on the Pawsh blog for a spiffy pet painting made by the fine folks at Crazy Rebels. And as luck would have it, she won! The even better part was that the painting was going to be of me!

So I helped mom look through lots of my photos, and we picked out this silly photo from a few years ago of me in my super hero cape. I thought it would look fun turned into a cartoon style painting.

The I headed over to Design Seeds and picked out the blue background color seen in the photo below.

And a few weeks later this fun painting arrived at my doorstep.

Super Heroes Unite – Chincoteague Pony Minnow gets ready for Pony Penning

My stay-cation last week may have you thinking that all I did was go paddleboarding and flying, but this super dog never gets to relax completely – and I had to mix in a little bit of work too (if you can call it that).

My bestest pony friend Minnow the Painting Pony and I got our photoshoot on and took some promotional photos for this year’s Chincoteague Pony Penning held at the end of July.

Ammo the Dachshund Super Hero and his Super Hero Pony

Each year my friend Minnow (aka Super Minnow) travels to Chincoteague Island, Virginia to perform for a week during the annual Chincoteague Pony Swim and Auction.

Not only does he paint original art during his stay on the island, but he also gets to show off some of his amazing tricks by performing a skit during the nightly shows at the Chincoteague Pony Centre.

Mom and I work very hard for months in advance to help Minnow learn a new performance each year before pony penning – and I think this year’s performance is one of the best yet!

This year Minnow is going to Super Hero Bootcamp – and as you can see by his rolly polly belly that he certainly was in need of a bootcamp!

The only way to see Minnow’s new performance is to visit him on the island at the end of July, but since I knew not everyone would make it I talked mom into having a new DVD made of the performance that will be available for purchase hopefully next month. (meanwhile you can check out Minnow’s other DVD featuring yours truly HERE).

I’m a bit jealous that I won’t be able to watch Minnow’s performance live either, as dogs aren’t allowed many places on the island and I have to stay home with Dad, so I’ll just have to wish him luck from afar.

It’s a shame really, because what’s a Super Hero without his sidekick?

I’m sure Minnow knows I’m his biggest fan though, and I’ll be cheering him on from home! Go Minnow!Ammo the Dachshund

Little Super Hero on the Wall

ammo the dachshund custom painting

You might remember that for Christmas I got a special little gift card from my Mom & Dad to get a custom painting of myself from Yellow Brick Home. Well, a few days ago a little package arrived at my door from the very talented Kim Vargo.

I couldn’t believe how much it looked like me! Mom says she even captured the special feisty little look in my eyes.

After modeling for a few photos with Mom and sending Kim some of my favorites from years past, I was so excited to see the results. Kim even said I was the very first Super Hero she got to paint! (I’m the cutest too, right?)

Mom hung it up in my home office for me, and I really can’t help but stare at it all day long!

Oh handsome little hero on the wall – you are just way too cool!

You can get your own custom pet paintings from Kim @ Yellow Brick Home (make sure you tell her the cutest Super Hero EVER sent you!)

*I was not paid or perk’d to write this post – I’m just super super excited about my new portrait!

Ponies, Racing, and Super Heroes

Have you met my friend Minnow?

ammo the dachshund and painting pony at point to point races

He’s a super talented painting pony who also happens to be one of my bestest friends (I know him!).

ammo the dachshund and painting pony at point to point races

And it’s because of my bestest pal Minnow that I get to go to super cool events like the Brandywine Point to Point Races and watch horses race through terrain and over fences at lightning speed. Super cool right?

ammo the dachshund and painting pony at point to point races

But, do you know what else is cool? Super Heroes. And this little Super Hero loves to work the crowd at super cool events where horses race through terrain and over fences at lightning speed.

I mingle with the ladies.

And draw in the crowd with my sleek look and awesome cape.

I even get the laughs when I bust out my stunt helmet for my death-defying tricks.

And just when they think theres no more, I bust out the big guns and amaze everyone with my big finale “bang” trick. It’s a tough job, but someones got to do it.

xoxo,

Agility for Super Heroes

Yesterday I started my beginner agility class at Wagsworth Manor. So, knowing that I would need to get in shape beforehand, over the weekend I broke out my super cape to help me get the party started.

ammo the dachshund super hero

There is something about that little piece of fabric – that just makes you want to fly!

ammo the dachshund super hero

…and fly….

ammo the dachshund super hero

….and fly….

ammo the dachshund super hero

…and fly some more!

ammo the dachshund super hero

And it’s a good thing I did all that flying beforehand…..

ammo the dachshund super hero

…because this is all my classmates saw on my first day of agility class as I soured over the jumps, sped through the weaving poles, and dashed through the tunnel! I can’t wait until next week’s class!

The Super Hero Code

ammo the dachshund super hero

Being a Super Hero means many different things. Not only do you have duties to uphold, but you also have to live by the Super Hero Code. And since you are my friends, I’m going to share with you the super top-secret Super Hero Code. Which means this is on a need-to know basis….and I better not find it all over Facebook! *wink*

Ammo’s Super Hero Code

ammo the dachshund super hero

1. You have to look extra dashing in your Super Hero cape (spandex tights are optional – as not everyone can pull those off).

ammo the dachshund super hero

2. You have to have a charming smile that makes everyone instantly fall in love with you. (This one’s for the ladies).

ammo the dachshund super hero

3. You need to be able to bark in the face of danger (growling can be substituted if need be), because Super Heroes can’t be weenies.

ammo the dachshund super hero

4. Your greatest weapon is your nose, and a great Super Hero can smell friend or foe from a mile away.

ammo the dachshund super hero

5. You need to have bulging muscles and the ability to think on your toes.

ammo the dachshund super hero

6. You have to be smart and courageous or at least hide the fact that you like to snuggle under the covers with your mom at night.

ammo the dachshund super hero

7. All Super Heroes like cookies. (and we’re never too proud to accept donations – please see my mailing address below) *wink*

ammo the dachshund super hero

8. You must never take yourself too seriously, and laugh everyday.

ammo the dachshund super hero

9. You must have a heart of gold

ammo the dachshund super hero

10. And most importantly….Super Heroes don’t have to clean their bedrooms, pick up their toys, or brush their teeth. Did you hear that mom? It’s in the code! *wink*

Now go forth and be Super everyday!

Super Kitty

I admit, I’ve got Super Heroes on the brain. So when my pal Cricket the farm cat told me and Trooper she wanted to play too, we were so excited!

I know I’m not always good at sharing, but I decided to lend Cricket my Super Cape – so she could fit in.

I give you Super Kitty! Able to scale tall hay bales, hunt evil ground hogs with her night vision, and claw her way to the highest tree branch!

Oh and she’s also mastered the highest level of deception, the “fake cat nap”.

She may look like she’s off in snooze land……

….but she’s secretly sharpening her claws for her next cat fight!

oooo I’m shaking in my boots!
