Pet Friendly Kitchen Renovation

You might remember that for the past several years I’ve been helping my mom and dad “kitchen shop”. Oh yes, for year’s I’ve been shopping appliances, building pantries and more, but the time has finally come to demolish my old kitchen for good!

Incase you might have forgotten, here’s what my kitchen originally looked like.

Pretty retro, but if you ask me, as long as I had a place to lay down and a spot for my food bowls, I was a happy happy dog.

But, mom and dad had other ideas and pretty soon my happy little resting spot and my food bowls were replaced with a shop vac.

And the demo had begun!

My dad is a pretty handy guy, and he even started building this new closet, which I’ve already claimed for all of my adventure gear!

While I am gaining a closet, I’m also loosing one too.

But I plan to hide a little secret inside the one I’m loosing. Someday if anyone ever tears down the wall, they’ll find one of my cute little business cards inside!

Next it was time to start demoing the wall between my old kitchen and the dining room, for one big super kitchen!

Things were starting to look pretty messy and then one day when I came home from work….

…I saw that Dad had completely knocked down the wall without me!

Suddenly there was so much room for activities! (name that movie) But honestly, I really only had one concern, where is my super soft bed and my food bowls going to go?

Mom assures me that this will be a pet friendly kitchen when it’s all done, but for now I’ll just have to wait and see. This kitchen remodel is going to be taking up a lot of my adventuring time for the next few weeks, and this journey has just begun, so stay tuned to find out how it turns out! Ammo the Dachshund // Blog Signature // Celebrity

  1. I’m getting ready to move from an apartment to a house. We’ve lived here 12 of Lili’s 13 years. I’m wondering how she’s going to handle the change. She will have her own small fenced in back yard for the first time and a huge front yard for me to walk her in. She just doesn’t handle change well. Some what like her Mom. Don’t you worry about your bowl. Our furbabies are always a priority. Even before ourselves. 😉

    • Lili will adore the freedom of a fenced yard – just be certain she is not a digger under any portion (we have double fencing along the bottom edge in some areas, just in case). Furr kidds bond to the humans, not surroundings unless they are losing something important to them, then the change may take longer to adapt. Maybe Lili could have a furry BFF now to play in that fenced area with her….Our five love their safe/secure yard!

    • When I moved into my home several years ago and I adapted really well. Mom made sure my bed, my food bowls, and the bell I ring to be let outside were set up before I even moved in. It made me feel right at home! (And don’t worry, despite all my talk about my food bowls, I’m handling my kitchen remodel super well and I’m not really worried one bit) as long as dinners on time every day I have not a care in the world! (Keeping your regular routine will help ur Lili in your move too!) ?

    • Ammo,

Can I visit you at work while my parents get a few things framed? My dachshund sister, Maddie went to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday from congestive heart failure & seizures. In early May, my other dachshund sister, Katie went to the Rainbow Bridge due to renal failure. I’m a super nice guy, have all my shots, etc.

    • So sorry to hear about Katie & Maggie! ? I’m always happy to meet a fellow Doxie, but typically I like to meet them just outside my shop door first. Sometimes I can be a little over protective of my toys in the shop (it’s like my second home) And I’m much friendlier meeting outside first! ?so ur welcome to come for a visit but maybe we can meet outside first 🙂

  2. Hi Ammo,
Rennovation is looking good! I will have the same problem in the near future… My mommy will be having renovation in our kitchen too!!! and I am surely going to be barking at the construction workers all day everyday!!!lol -Sauron

  3. Hey Ammo – You might want to think about wearing your super hero hat during the remodeling. That way you’ll look like a construction dog. Watch out for nails! Don’t want my little friend to need an emergency vet run. XXXOOO

  4. Great job on the remodeled kitchen/dining room! Where does the glass door lead to? Also, where is your pantry? I have enjoyed Ammo’s adventures for quite some time and I’m a dachshund lover. My little man, Orly passed this last fall, he was 15 years old. Miss him so.
